$12/hour for part-time nanny?

No way a teen with a social life at all, would want those hours….even without the housework.

Her only hope is is a desperate undocumented person.

Yeah, no kid will want to work those hours for that wage.

No kid is allowed to work those hours

I was even thinking 17-18 wouldn't want it.

They won’t want it because 17-18 with evening availability can easily get restaurant work with tips right now.

+1

My neighbor has no problem exploiting people, while claiming to be Mother Theresa. Pays her help $10. an hour for 2-3 kids, makes the help wear a "uniform". Zero conscience.

I would laugh if it were not so sad.

I'm the OP. She's Hispanic herself and posted her ad in both English and Spanish so that may be her goal. She's not a bad person at all, but I guess it's not just "evil, white Republicans" that like to get cheap labor.

I would assume so.

She IS by definition a bad person, OP!! How else could you describe her?!! She’s planning to exploit a human being. That makes her a bad person.

Instead of saying “like to,” I would say “are in a structural situation where it would be necessary for the viability of a business/life plan.” Her life plan is to work and have a nanny. It would require a rate she can afford. In reality, someone on her income can’t afford a nanny. Just as many small businesses recently discovered they aren’t viable (or their opening hours are not viable).

Not to mention how would they get their s hook work done? Only someone desperately needing work would take this position for under minimum wage.

Where I live a good amount of the nannies are undocumented. They are paid much more than this. If they were willing to accept this rate I would be concerned that they were not responsible or trustworthy. A good childcare worker, undocumented or not, could find a different family that would pay them more.

Then it sounds like she can’t afford childcare.

We just moved to Dallas. We pay our nanny 16 an hour for full time. 3 kids but the oldest two are 13 and 16 and other than doing their laundry snd helping make dinner or breakfast - she doesn’t do anything for them.
It’s salary so paid all the time whether we are in town or not. And it’s pretty easy.
That’s what she listed in her ad 2 years ago and she’s great.
Youngest is second grade so during day she cooks or gets groceries.

She wants some light housekeeping included for that price too. Are there really people working for that amount of money? She is a single mom so I get her finances are probably tight but based on her job, I'm sure she earns 80-100K.

She could absolute get a 12-13yo to play with her child for that rate… while she does the housework or works from home.
