| Interesting DC United missed out of the fees. Wonder in BSC will get something? Hopefully he goes on to have much success and make some money! |
Absolutely, and 100% of those local soccer players will convey their congrats and well wishes to Kristian and other successful area players via Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter or other social media platforms kids that age use. It would be beyond bizarre if any teens wanted to mark this occasion by taking to DCUM. |
So the way the system works right now I believe the answer is no. Because our system is pay to play the club has already been compensated (registration fees) and so the transaction is complete. There was a piece years back with Pulisic’s youth club that outlined this. There has been some movement to change this and there was a recent court case (Deandre Yedlin’s youth club team filed a lawsuit against I believe the Sounders) but that didn’t go anywhere. It has been a few years but I think this is still the status quo. |
I don’t even know who the more famous people you referenced are

| Still really young but has shown enough to get signed. Now comes the next level of selection. Hopefully he works out. Dortmund has a history with American and is a seller. Will be interesting to see if other clubs start adding American more regularly. |
Ha! There’s no reason you should unless your kid has national team or pro ambitions. Most of us are only focusing on our own kids and their hyper-local soccer experiences here. I happen to have married into a hard-core soccer family so I’ve picked up a lot of info along the way. |
Thanks for the explanation. I thought I read on another thread that a club had to pay even if the kid is within a radius of the acadamy, for example 75 miles. Possibly they did and we just don't know the details. |
HA! This made me lol. |
| My DS was the same age cohort as Gedion Zelalem and Jeremy Ebobisse back in the day. All the club/MCPS soccer kids paid attention to them, especially Gedion since he left at 16 for Arsenal. Soccer parents would always show up when their kids team was playing the Olney Rangers or WJ. I assume the same is true for kids/families who are near Kristian's age. Not sure why it would otherwise be of much interest to people outside the kid's school or club - it's becoming a more normal path now. |

I'd note that this "article" is still based on a single tweet from over two weeks ago (by Keith Costigan), which was a correction from a previous tweet when he said it was Bayern Munich. No post from Kristian, nothing from Dortmund, nothing from any other reporter, over two weeks later. So I'd say it is far from confirmed that this has actually happened. Of course it may have, or could still -- it's not crazy, he's a great player. But moving on to critique how much (or not) people are taking note of this news seems quite premature. Is it even news yet? |
Dortmund will announce if he signs |
