$360 HHI
Ann Taylor, Loft, Talbots, Poshmark |
Oh and a fair amount of Costco. |
$200k HHI, $1mish net worth.
Pre pandemic: Nordstrom, J. Crew Factory, Club Monaco, Draper James, Michael Kors (the dresses, not the ugly purses), Anthropologie. Post pandemic, I hate basically all clothes in stores and am still WFH so don't see the point in most nice clothes. Target and Old Navy for my WFH attire. I've had excellent luck the past year at Goodwill, probably because everyone has been cleaning out their closets. |
How is this possible?? |
HHI: 50K -- Just me I buy almost everything from ebay and Poshmark. I'll try things on at department stores and then buy secondhand. Sometimes Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, Lululemon + Sephora. I've found some good quality lounge wear at Target. Some was total rubbish, but a few things have lasted longer than much more expensive pieces. I also go to sample sales for brands I like. |
HHI: 400-500K. NW: $1.5 million
Pre-pandemic, shopped at L&T, Nordstrom's, Ann Taylor, J Crew for work. Anthro, Uniqlo, Old Navy/Gap, Madewell, H & M, Athleta for play. Now, I have basically shopped at only Old Navy for both myself and the kids for the last 18 months. (Branching out would be the Gap). One stop shopping (and returns) and cheap and basically all I need and buy are athleisure and the occasional cotton sweater or fleece (for all of us!). |
Why do you card how I spend money? If I want to light $100.00 bill on fire, that’s my choice. Just like it’s my choice where to shop. |
Totally agree about Cat and Jack! |
$300K / $3M (?)
Casual/basics: Target, Costco, Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy, Uniqlo. Work/formal: Eileen Fisher but usually from Factory Store or ebay/Poshmark, Nordstrom Rack. Shoes: Sierra Trading Post, Nordstrom Rack But let's face it, I work in an area not know for its fashion sense (DC) and in a profession known mainly for its bad fashion sense. |
HHI - $850k approx
Me: theory, rag and bone, Vince - but all very on sale (40-50% off sticker) so yes more than jcrew (which I still shop on occasion)but no where near sticker. My consumption is way down during pandemic still though. Though my skin care consumption is abt the same. |
What profession is known for its bad fashion sense? |
Teachers |
HHI $220K. For myself, I shop at Nordstrom Rack and Amazon. Have been shopping consignment lately on ThredUp. I wish I'd discovered it sooner... there are some really great finds!
For my kids (3 and 1.5), I go to Target, Kohls, or Kid2Kid (kids' consignment in Rockville). |
+1 on Cat & Jack for kids' clothing and shoes. They have cute designs, and I've found the quality is decent too--they hold their shape longer and don't shrink in the wash to the extent that Carters and Old Navy do. |
NP, but what is with DCUM and its failure of imagination? Off the top of my head, this can be for many reasons unrelated to terrible spending habits (although "not budgeting home renovations" might be giving you a clue here). But there are tons of possibilities, like: tons of student and/or medical debt/expenses, solely supporting other family members, having only recently and exponentially increased income, or being very young and having had little time to save (impressive to be making that much in HHI, though). How is it possible?? that people don't even try to imagine circumstances other than their own?? |
