TIL that crackers have class levels.

My MIL is similar and I don’t know why - even though her grandchild is allergic to a bunch of things often in crackers, she insists on buying ones at WF that have nuts and seed in them and then is mad that her grandchild proceeds to eat cheese without her weird and dangerous crackers.

Triscuits are super low class and look like dog biscuits. Truscuuts arevwhat boomer consider the healthy cracker.

No they are the most deliciously salty. Are you thinking of a different cracker?

I feel like the highest class cracker would be the Scandinavian brown ones or something but they do not work with every dip. Or maybe broken lavash or crusty bread or something that's not technically a cracker....I'm not sure any crackers are especially classy.

No, I’m thinking of this gross thing.

Please stop bullying the Triscuits. They are amazing. And whole wheat. WASPs like whole grains!

This is so funny to me. I do not really think crackers have class levels, but some are kind of dated, albeit delicious. I have memories of my parents’ dinner parties when my sisters and I were young in the 70s and 80s and my mom always served Ritz crackers with shrimp dip, and also Triscuits on a cheese and crackers board. I love the taste of these crackers, but would not think of serving them at a dinner party today (unless the theme was “retro” or something like that?).

That’s funny. When I was growing up, Ritz crackers were the fancy food we put out for company!

+1. And cringe. I actually feel sorry for the OP. Lots of effort into this. Painfully unfunny.

I wish!

She said I should have had some nice water crackers or cracked black pepper. "Everyone has a box of water crackers stashed away." was a quote from her.

Think of a woman who wants everyone to believe she's Emily Gilmore but she's nonstop acting to coverup the Roseanne Conner past.

Honestly, maybe she is just trying to help you and give you some advice? I do not think I would serve Ritz to non family members either, and I live in Herndon. Maybe it was just about the information and not a huge blown/up deal you are making it.

Anything called crispy flatbread is a damn classy cracker

But you’d still serve various dips, or turkey on Thanksgiving, or other expected and long-served items, so what’s the difference? Delicious is delicious.

I think it’s both true and hilarious. Not to mention highly entertaining.

Commenting “cringe” is in and of itself embarrassing to the person who said or wrote it. So meta!

NP. Psst…you do know that sharing unsolicited opinions is not “about the information,” right? An opinion is not “information.” It’s an opinion. And my opinion that anyone who would scold their hosts about serving whatever is a rude person with no class or sense of propriety.

This. If OP had been on DCUM for any amount of time she would know this. Shocking that it even needs to be explained.

You really should keep some Cheez Wiz in your pantry for when your MIL visits. Do away with the offensive crackers and just pass the can around, family style.
