I grew up in the UK with Carr’s and oat crackers and really good cheddar. DH loves the flaky crackers here (Ritz, etc) and puts all kinds of dip on them. Oh well. |
| OP, I am now craving Ritz crackers. I blame you. |
My FIL was an oil landman (bought and sold mineral rights). He really was in the oil business. They had Ritz crackers. I love them. |
| Where I am from, everyone was in oil and it meant rich and trashy but also being just fine with it. |
I think of digestive biscuits as closer to a cookie than a cracker. They even sell them chocolate-coated. |

Fancy crackers-inedible cardboard!
Ritz crackers-heaven in your mouth! If we are all being honest, Ritz crackers are like crack! Your MIL is a serious biatch. Plus, lol, lol, lol! How low class is she to criticize you for having low class crackers! Pot meet kettle, or well your MIL can just look into a mirror! |
I am a bona dine European! Nothing better than Ritz crackers. The taste of butter, even fake... makes me melt! |
| Ritz crackers are the best with tomato soup! MMMMM |
My TJ's hasn't had this in weeks and I miss it so much! |
Ma'am, have you tried garlic and cheese croutons? |
TJ's is basically 7-eleven for fancy people. So you are in good company! |
| As a kid in the 80’s NY we also had carr water crackers on fancy occasions/when hosting. Ritz were def seen as kid snacks. My parents both grew up poor and blue collar so maybe they were making a conscious effort to be fancy with the crackers? |
| Nothing says class like complaining about the food when you're a guest |

Triscuits are the best. If plain, I like to eat them stripe by stripe and then stand up and wipe the crumbs off my shirt. I like to get fancy sometimes and nuke them with kraft single pieces on top, then a slice of jalapeno n the melty cheese.
Saltines broken are actually better than oyster crackers in soup. Wheat Thins are nasty Melba Toast is lovely. If we are talking dip-oriented chips I actually prefer pita chips. |
| I’m curious why you didn’t serve her Chicken in a Biskit? |
