Actually, no- it’s the Maryland drivers that are the worst. But all the road rage would just end if people around here chilled out and just drove defensively. Unless you are driving someone suffering a stroke to the hospital, there is really no need to be a bully on the road. |
Virginia drivers are the worst at just hanging out in the left lane. Maryland drivers do know how to change lanes. |
I'll never understand why these types of drivers don't just stay in the right lane the entire time. Why even bother moving to the left if you don't like the higher speeds? These folks are traffic hazards. If you are uncomfortable moving quickly, stay right or, at the very least, middle. You are a hinderance to the easy flow of traffic. MOVE OVER!!! |
Yes, Maryland drivers are great at constantly darting across multiple lanes |
| Left lane can also be for HOV |
This!!! |
Agree; between the two of you the aggressive jerk is the worst kind of driver on the road, responsible for most accidents. |
Yup, VA drivers aggressively barrel down on you no matter how fast you are driving -- if I'm going 80 already while passing, and you are barreling down on my bumper -- I'm speeding to pass, but you are a hazard. In that same situation, the MD driver will pass you on the right before you get a chance to safely merge in front of the driver you are passing, needling in between the two of you just as you were going to move over to compelte the pass. Reckless driving, treating other moving vehicles as if they were immobile objects on their own personal obstacle course. |
So you think speeding is safe? |
Going slow is not necessarily safe or make you a safer driver. There are plenty of zoned out, distracted slow drivers who only look straight ahead. |
They wouldn't have to do that if the Virginia left-lane vigilantes ever got out of the left lane. |
NP but this is dead wrong. The vast majority of people who drive fast on the left, using the far left for passing (then returning to second left), are very good drivers. Even at 75 or 80+. (I’m not talking here about ridiculous 20 year old hotheads with MD plates doing 105 in a Honda Civic.) The real risks to everyone are the nervous, indecisive, and frenetic drivers going much slower. Plus the hall monitors. Between those two groups you have massive, unpredictable disruptions in traffic; people who can’t merge, can’t facilitate someone else merging; people inciting road rage and intentionally creating obstacles because they don’t like how fast someone is going. Gleefully playing chicken on a highway because you think you’re “right” is incredibly dangerous even at 55mph. |
| You know you've been on DCUM for a long time when you realize the same debates pop up over and over... not driving in the left lane, bicyclists on the road, maryland vs. virginia drivers... |
I tow trailers for a living smart a$$. If someone doesn’t know how to merge, they shouldn’t be driving. If someone is behind me while I’m towing and they want to pass me, go the F around me. I’m not risking my load for A holes like you or anyone else. |
Because it's dangerous to go 100+ mph, you reckless a$$h0le. Everyone else is already going 5-10 over the speed limit. Idiots like you get others killed. |
