I'm not raging at all. So what happens after you are done passing those trucks? You move back over, right? Or do you only follow some laws? |
Take picture of their license plate and report to police. Road rage is getting out of hand. |
Got it. So you are breaking the law by staying in the left lane. Driving the speed limit. You are going to kill someone someday driving that way! |
|
Here are legitimate reasons for not yielding to faster cars in the left lane, at least not right away
1. Left exit in a few miles, give a left turn signal to indicate you are there for the left exit 2. Left lane ended and merged with your lane, give a right turn signal to indicate you would like to move over to the right lane when you feel you can do this safely 3. Traffic jam 4. You have been deputized by state police to be a traffic monitor, be prepared to show official authorization |

I drove a lot this year. To the west coast and back. To Florida and back. I’m a fast driver with a lead foot, so I always notice the left lane hoggers who refuse to move to the right.
These are the people who always refuse to move out of the left lane: 1. African-American drivers, usually an older couple 2. Rural white guys with giant pickup trucks, a Trump sticker, hauling a trailer Without fail, it was always one of these two categories. It’s uncanny how these trends held true as I drove across the country. I can’t explain it, but it’s uncanny. |
Not the PP, but I think it is the job of the person merging on to the highway to enter the lane safely. This means speeding up or slowing down to do so. Vehicles in the right lane do not need to move left to let you in. |
Its not about the speed a driver is going, regardless of which lane they are in. If you are in a lane on the left of another lane then you should actively be passing a vehicle. If not, move to the right. |
After you pass the truck going 50, move to the right. Then when you need to pass again, move left and back to the right once you pass. No one is saying you need to stay in the right lane and can't pass, but we are saying that just like you don't want to be "stuck" behind the truck going 50, others don't want to be "stuck" behind you doing 70. |
Or just move over and let them pass. I drive fast and often in the left lane, but I move over if a car is close to me. Sometimes they’ll move over too because they’re following my lead but other times they speed up and pass. I don’t understand the hall monitor types who want someone tailgating them. |
+1 There will always be someone faster than you on the road and always someone slower. The way that civilized people handle it is to stay right, pass left. You don’t have to be “stuck” in either lane. Change lanes, as needed. If you have trouble changing lanes, I recommend driving school. |
These people are sociopaths being passive aggressive and I detest them. |
You don’t need to be in the left lane for miles for a left exit. That’s nuts. |
Yes, you do if traffic is heavy and you are a cautious/timid driver |
You’re holding up the flow of traffic for miles because you’re "timid" and wonder why people tailgate you. |
If you can safely do so, you are supposed to move left when approaching an on ramp merge lane so traffic can maintain speed. |
