Are there no security officers in the school? Anybody trained to defuse and de escalate? |
There are. But as we keep telling you, law enforcement doesn’t prevent crime. LEO only responds to crime. An SRO in the building didn’t make much difference. |
Teacher here. I’ve worked in poor and suburban schools where fights is child’s play. Very simple: child or not I dont give a flying fack. When my integrity is compromised I will defend myself with anything and everything. That includes chokeholds to put a student to sleep or a good old knuckle sandwich to the mouth. Either way I’m not going home maimed or disabled. I have a family. And even if I didn’t have one I’d still act the same way. |
' He is a minor who assaulted an adult. He should be treated like an adult. The teacher was perfectly reasonable in defending himself. That "minor" needs to be put into jail and should not be allowed back in school. |

How can we find out if he got expelled only from school (who you be surprised with LCPS? Haha) or expelled from the school district entirely? |
You can’t. It’s private education info protected by FERPA. Get a life. |
Article says teacher is suspended. Think we are missing some facts |
You shouldn’t be a teacher. No good teacher has this cross their mind |
Was this tug of war with laptop? Because it reads like teacher pushed kid.
As the student passes the teacher — who has not been identified — the student grabs the teacher’s laptop with one hand and then appears to hit the computer as he tries to rip it from the teacher’s grasp. As the teacher pulls the laptop away from the student he moves forward, shoving the student backward onto a cluster of desks, at which at least two other students are seated. While the two struggle for control, the camera’s view changes for several seconds as the person filming moves away from the fracas. When the camera is turned back toward the altercation, the teacher can be seen attempting to grasp the student’s arms and push him down onto the desk. The student then begins to stand up before being shoved backward to the ground, apparently hitting the back of his head on the edge of the desk. |
Yup. The teacher is toast and will get fired. The kid was a better fighter, but the teacher actively engaged in a fight with a minor. |
HS teacher here. I would absolutely defend myself against anyone, including a student, if I was ever attacked. Most of my students are much bigger than me and I would defend myself in any way possible if I was in danger of physical harm.
I would NOT struggle with them for any electronic device or try to get it back. They could take it. I would not physically get in their way if they tried to leave. Let them go. That’s the difference. |
I’m a high school teacher and that’s what I said. First of all, the fact they were in a verbal fight to begin with is bad. You don’t get into power struggles with kids. When the kid reaches for the device he should have let him take it and smash it or whatever. It’s school property, why should we go creating a physical altercation over school property? So yea the kid is the aggressor but unfortunately the totality of events makes it clear the teacher had other options for deescalation he chose not to use and when the kid grabs the computer the teacher is the one that escalates it to a physical altercation. |
I know I have some friends worried about this October TikTok thing. Not me. If a high school student ever hits me, I am 100% pressing charges. Tell your kids. |
Omg chill lol. That list is so obviously fake. Kids are not going to plan a year of monthly schemes out in advance and then make sure we all know. The list is a stupid joke, you really think teenagers are going to think “hey call April’s challenge “grab some eggs” because it’s theft related but also an Easter reference”? Come on. They don’t want to smack your backside I promise. I’m a teacher and I’m embarrassed for any teacher who is believing any of that is going to happen, you sound hysterical. |
