[/quote] I’m a high school teacher and that’s what I said. First of all, the fact they were in a verbal fight to begin with is bad. You don’t get into power struggles with kids. When the kid reaches for the device he should have let him take it and smash it or whatever. It’s school property, why should we go creating a physical altercation over school property? So yea the kid is the aggressor but unfortunately the totality of events makes it clear the teacher had other options for deescalation he chose not to use and when the kid grabs the computer the teacher is the one that escalates it to a physical altercation.
