Why are book banners showing up at FCPS SB meetings

Anonymous
That book sounds quite disgusting, but is it any worse than Flowers in the Attic which many people read in HS or younger? (I genuinely don’t know, I haven’t read either book)

Disgusting. Definitely don’t want this in high school.

4th grader??? I would have been okay if the book was about adults but not under-aged kids. What message are we sending here? What are we encouraging? HS kids should go out and look for elementary school kids to bang? FCPS and many of these school districts are becoming lawless.

I also agree that the Bible should be banned in school.

That’s good, I guess?
Not sure what that has to do with pedophilia. The books they referenced last night are pretty bad. It’s shameful they are defending these books under the guise of lgbtq support. This is graphic sexual writing about a 10 year old boy.

The context is that the main character has like one friend, his bf. This friend was making homophobic comments but main character didnt say anything like “come on man, stop” because he had this secret in his past re hooking up with this kid.

Want to clarify—when I said “kid” i meant that the main character had this homosexual experience as a 4th grader with another 4th grader when they were in 4th grade. Now they are grown up but main character is remembering the acts. The person who he forayed in the bushes with is now a successful businessman in town who doesnt talk about his same-sex experimentation.

Is 4th grade a bit young for sexual experimentation? Yes, to me it is. But the book doesnt say “you are in 4th grade, go have gay sex”. It is telling a story about the main characters life, of which this was a part.

Looks like Parents Defending Education (full of Koch associates and Trumphumpers) is all over this manufactured "issue":

Someone needs to be. Frisch thinks this is great. Someone needs to bring this up.

It only going to get worse.

They are emboldened because of Don the con.

We must vote the GOP out or we are hosed.

These freaks want control we must stop them. Religion and book banning should not be in public school.

Neither should explicit books, whether between two boys or a boy and girl. Or man and woman, or two men or two women, etc.

+1

This shouldn’t be political. Frisch is disgusting for blanketing this as an lgbt support issue.

you apparently haven't read the Old Testament very closely

Fourth grade boys sucking each other off. THAT is what it is. It is disgusting and regularlizes abuse. It needs to go. This is not even a close call.

Kids this age cannot give consent. It is not ok and it needs to go. I do Scouts and this is an issue--child on child abuse is 1/3 of all abuse. It needs to be treated with such care. I just cannot believe FCPS cannot see that some things need to go.
