Lawrence is OK, Wren is an absolute NO

How dare you say this when there's still a thread about naming one's son Ariel on the first page.

At least there is historic and cultural precedence for doing so.

Seriously. Ariel Sharon? Have you heard of that person?

I think Wren is definitely a girl's name.

Lawrence nn Ren is very cool IMHO.

David Foster and Katharine McPhee named their kid Rennie and I keep thinking Ren would have been way better.

I hate the name Lawrence. Love the name Nathaniel, Nathan and Nate.

We named our son Dean. Classic and very under used. Also, no nn involved. We love it.

Ren. It was the main character on flashdance

Wren definitely makes me think "girl," but Ren makes me think "boy." Silly, maybe. I don't know ... I don't hate this name, but I don't love it either.

Agree Ren for a boy

And eventually his classmates will call him Kylo.

This is my thought.

We have somewhat settled on Nathaniel but it doesnt feel quite right and I dont love it with our last name which also starts with N. Im liking Lawrence because it feels dignified but warm and also underused. But he would mainly go by Wren, which I know is a girls name also. But it doesnt bother me that it is gender neutral.

Sister is Caroline.

Wren isn't gender neutral and it isn't your name so of course it wouldn't bother you! I think if you don't want to do Nathaniel N last name choose another name! There are soo many! My favorite are Benjamin, August, Felix< Oliver, William.
