| People will think you mean Ren, like Kylo Ren, so it depends on how okay you are with that. |
| I would do Lawrence, nn Ren or Renn. It reads more masculine without the W. I like both the full name and nickname, OP, and I'm with you on the challenges of boy names! I'm all about family names for my kids but the male options are absolutely dire. There's one I like (using that as the first name) but really struggling to find a good middle name. |
Let us help you. |

If you are naming him Lawrence after a family member, then of course. But if you are naming your son Lawrence because it’s underused, then don’t. It’s underused for a reason - Larry is even worse. Ren is a better choice
Walter is in the same old fashioned style but is making a big come back. |
| Russell, nn Russ or Rusty? |
Already have a thread, but I appreciate the enthusiasm!

Lance is a truly terrible name. Super trashy, as in lives in a double wide and has a pitbull chained in the yard beside heaps of rusting auto parts on blocks. "Lance" is a hideous thing to do to an innocent child. Lance's sisters are named Ainsley, Chardonnee, and Blaykelee. |

OP here- I guess we are back to Nathaniel then. Sigh....
Thanks for the feedback |
| I know a Lawrence nn Loren/Lori, probably not much better due to Lauren. |
Everyone (mostly) likes Lawrence. Just drop the Wren idea. For someone who says she likes classic names, Wren is very weird. |
|
Matthew, James, John, Daniel, Benjamin, Samuel, Alexander, Ethan, Isaac, etc etc
There are so many great classic names out there, if you don’t want to do an alliterative name. |
| This is maybe the stupidest name-related idea I've seen on DCUM, and that's really saying something. |
| Wren is fairly gender neutral to me. I knew a male Wren in college and never gave it a second thought until now. Not sure I like it as a nn for Lawrence though. |
| We are considering the name Warren. I feel like that has a similar classical feel and could also be nn Ren. |

Wren is a girls name.
Ren will make people think of Footloose, Stimpy, or Kylo, depending on age. |
