A new report just came out that provides information on Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s third accuser. The report suggests that Julie Swetnick’s ex-boyfriend filed a restraining order against her for some disturbing violence-related issues. This was back in 2001.

A) What does this have to do with her accusations?

B) For anyone who asks why women don't come forward with accusations, here's your reason: the accuser's life becomes subject to scrutiny.

So wait - it’s on to do a deep dive into the life of the accused, but not the accuser? We’re just supposed to take the word of anyone who claims assault, without investigating whether perhaps the claim might be false? Give us all a break. Of course the accuser’s life should be investigated, along with the accused. Believe it or not, in this country, we actually are innocent until proven guilty.

I'm happy to see a complete investigation into the accusers -- you're the ones who have to seat this (possibly totally guilty) guy by the first Monday in October.

When it is a party that the younger high schoolers have crashed. Maybe it was recent GP grads home for break who had the party - she was at Montgomery College apparently at the time.

Way to blame the victim. College students do hang out with high schoolers from time to time.

Sure. Specially if the highschool kids are gang raping girls! Sounds fun and make sense! Hey what are you doing tonight? Oh I am going to hang out with a bunch of highschool boys and watch them try to rape girls. Oh and get this ....I am buying the liquor because they are all underage. All hail the patriarchy!

Brett Kavanaugh denied a fourth misconduct claim against him when asked by GOP investigators earlier this week, according to an interview transcript released Wednesday night by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

An anonymous woman wrote to Sen. Cory Gardner’s (R-Colo.) office on Sept. 22 alleging that the Supreme Court nominee shoved another woman “up against the wall very aggressively and sexually” in 1998 after leaving a bar where both had been drinking, the transcript states. Kavanaugh denied any involvement in the events alleged in that complaint, which was first reported by NBC.

I posted earlier that I took crime tips from the public in a past life. These kind of unverifiable anonymous allegations are very par for the course when something is in the news.

Yes, we must be very careful with these later accusations where the people have remained anonymous. However, the ones who put their names on the line have been very credible and there should be a FBI investigation before a vote.

Yeah, I was HS class of '83, my brother was '80, we used to go to some of the same parties.

That at least makes sense. You ran in the same circles. Where did this person come from? Nobody knows who she is.

"Nobody"? Where do you get that?

Of course not.

I do but fully believe that the guys might not.have thought they were raping anyone. I dont believe the implied intent behind that phrasing but absolutely believe that they had parties where girls were gotten drunk and tossed around.

To add to this...I think this is what makes us so uncomfortable about this. We dont feel in our guts it is fair to punish someone for something bad they didn't know they were doing

Wow, that's pretty damn telling. That's a flat-out admission that the intention is to simply bring Kavanaugh down with unfounded accusations.

Not it isn't. It is admitting that this is not a criminal proceeding and "beyond reasonable doubt" doesn't apply.

How about just meeting minimal standards like corroborating evidence that's not hearsay?

Yes. Our country is in real trouble if a man’s life can be destroyed based on mere allegations. A truly sad day.

As a woman who has two sons, I'm enraged. I told them and my husband the only thing that separates them from Kavanaugh's fate is decent moral women. Any woman now can accuse her husband of rape and all it would take is her allegation and a few tears to destroy him.

Lots of men go their entire lives without being accused of sexual assault. Want to know why?

They don't commit sexual assault. That's the advice I would be giving my sons if I were you.

The vast majority of men go their entire lives without being accused of sexual assault, including many offenders. And of the few that are accused many
continue lives of privilege, including becoming the president of the United States. I am pretty sure that our society is very sensitive to disrupting the promising future of the white, privileged, golden boys.

If only the accusations could have come out sooner so we could have some 3-D models to go with the zillow floorplans! And maybe a suspect list of more than one other person who could have been mistaken for Kavanaugh back in 1982. Those yearbook photos are not searchable online by haircut and head shape!

An apology would go a long way...

The fact that he refuses to withdraw no matter what the circumstance tells us everything. This person is a political animal looking to elevate his own stature with no regard for popular opinion and what is actually good for this country. Therefore I doubt he will be able to display the impartiality that is basically the core of being a capable and respectable judge. (I'm talking about BK, not the entire Republican party). Trying to be respectful here.

Now they will tear the accusers apart. Again, why would any woman come forward or lie?!

College students occasionally hang out with high school students but she states that she did 10 times. Odd

OMFG.

I can't even believe you think a guy doesn't know he's raping a girl when he STOOD IN LINE TO HAVE SEX WITH HER.

I'm not uncomfortable. Did parents sit their kids down and say, HEY, if your date is drunk and passed out, don't have sex with her? That is WRONG.
No, I don't think parents did that back then. But that doesn't mean that they didn't know they were doing a bad thing. We don't tell our kids not to eat the dog either, but they somehow figure it out.

As well it should. She apparently was nuts enough for an ex to file a restraining order against her.

All it takes to get a restraining order is one person's uncorroborated assertion. Suddenly you're OK with taking that as the truth?

Restraining orders are not given out like candy.
