Fire in upper NW?

I made the mistake of looking at his Facebook page and now he's first under my "People you might know" section. No, I do not know this monster!

Wint was born and raised in Guyana and moved to the United States in 2000, when he was almost 20 years old, according to court records filed in Maryland. He joined the Marine Corps that same year and received an honorable discharge for medical reasons, the records show. Following his discharge, he worked as a certified welder, the records show.

Interesting information. I wonder why they wanted to process him out because my guess is "medical reasons" was only part of the story.

Anyone know if mental issues can fall under 'medical reasons' for an honorable discharge?

Yes, but it can really mean anything. People who are essentially able bodied are processed out that way because it is easier. Right now the military is dropping people more, but I'm kind of surprised in the early 00s, unless the timeline on this was really tight and the move, enlistment, and discharge ALL happened in 2000. Or there were pretty strong reasons. Probably, from what we know now.

I'm not in the military, but my partner is, and we've lived with a lot of other people in the military including one memorable roommate who was finally discharged for "medical reasons." And the quotes really belong there. Living through that situation was enlightening (I don't think our former roommate is dangerous, though).

There was a Samantha Wint on Facebook but she deleted her whole page last night. Other family members seem hardworking , normal
Some of 'Dillion's friends appear to be thugs. Lots of them
Obviously he was in DJA database in the first place

Dillion is not the suspect in question.

So this is NOT a picture of the suspect?

I don't know, but his first name is Daron.

It's him, he also goes by Dillion and Steffon

why do people need so many names - "he goes by......" ?????
I just go by my given name.......

Because they are criminals and want to keep some ambiguity about their identities.

Steffon's resume says he has 10 years of construction experience:

I get that you can do the multiple name thing on Facebook and other social media, but how do you do that in the court system or with a job? Aren't people in positions to hire someone or people who are processing criminals looking at identifying documents?
I guess I must be incredibly naïve.

The suspect's name and social media connections are confused, at best. The police are now identifying him as, "Daron Dylon Wint, AKA Steffon Wint". I hadn't heard "Steffon" until the police brought it up. "Dillion Wint" that is used on Twitter and Facebook could be a different spelling of the suspect's middle name, or a different person altogether. Earlier I thought "Dillion" was "Daron's" brother, but now I'm not sure. A photo from the Dillion Wint Facebook page is being used by the MPD, but I wouldn't put it past them to have suffered name confusion as well.

The confusion might lie in this: sometimes when people are arrested they'll give their siblings name. Sometimes people use their siblings' IDs (i.e. their license has been suspended so they drive with a brother's ID).

The guy named Steffon Wint on FB doesn't look like the undated mugshot of Daron Wint - they're almost certainly different people. I wouldn't be surprised if he has brothers named Steffon and Dillion and he has used their names as aliases when either opening credit card accounts, applying for jobs or even being pulled over for speeding, etc.

Thanks! Certified welder? That explains the connection.

Welders can make a VERY good living. Vile scumbag could have worked instead of robbing and killing people.

So is that the connection? Did the father know him through the iron framing business? Folks have said that the perp(s) would have to have been known to the couple to gain access to the house. If not, how could he have gained entry unless he forced his way in. The guy in the Post photo looks like every homeowner's nightmare of a home invader.

Just a low level ex- employee that targeted the CEO:

WTOP reports that DC police think the suspect fled to Brooklyn, and that NYPD is looking for him. I hope that NYPD takes this animal down. He deserves to be put in the mother of all chokeholds. What. else can you say about someone who tortures a little boy and then sets the boy on fire? If they try him in DC he will probably only be convicted of something like manslaughter. DC courts are a joke. Look what happened yesterday with "Marion" Christopher Barry. He basically knocked over a bank, destroyed property and threatened and assaulted a bank clerk. And despite having a criminal record, he only got a few months probation! What do you think would happen to someone who tried that outside DC?

I don't think anyone let him in. I think he snuck or forced his way in. Look at him. Would you open the door for this guy? Especially in that neighborhood? (Regardless of his race, he looks like a thug.)

1. Please do not make anymore comments about prison rape or how he's going to be living large in jail, whichever is your preferred fantasy/outrage. Prison rape is not righteous or good, no matter what someone did. Jail is not a hotel, no matter how much you want to think it is.

2. Re: hiring felons. Many of you are lawyers, so you should know that there are a lot of kinds of felony. What this man is accused of doing - felony. Copyright infringement - also felony. I also vaguely recall that driving more than 20 mph above the speed limit in VA is a felony. If you're saying "No one should ever hire felons" you are talking not just about violent murders but also non-violent criminals whose offense is deemed that serious. Because of the war on drugs, there are many non-violent drug users who have felony convictions even though they never hurt anyone in their lives. I think it is just and compassionate for businesses to provide second chances to convicted felons who are trying to establish new lives and behavior patterns. Suggesting that this crime wouldn't have occurred if AIW hadn't hired this man might be true, but it also might not be. This man still might have committed this crime, or another crime even more awful.

3. Right now, this man is the only suspect. Suggestions that his whole family is in on it are just as offensive as the "Housekeeper is in on it and sent MS-13 to extort money" suggestions from yesterday and the day before.

You sound like a very sheltered, naive pollyanna.

Did you check his criminal record before writing this?

Did you read about his brother, another sexual assaulter/psychopath? Here you go, a crime committed when he was only a teenager:

http://www6.montgomerycountymd.gov/Apps/Police/News/NA_details.asp?NaID=834

Do you really believe that the DNA lies? Do you really believe he is innocent? Do you really expect people to say nothing when there is a nationwide manhunt on for this man? I did not engage in speculation about the housekeeper, and I felt horrible for her. But this is quite different. Turn on CNN and you'll see.

I have no idea what part of my post you're responding to with any of that. I'm not sheltered or naive. I just don't think prison rape is okay and don't think "DON'T HIRE FELONS" is a way to prevent crime. I'm certainly not the only person who thinks either of those things. I also don't believe that he's innocent, but until such time as the cops announce that his mom, brothers or sister are also wanted in connection with this crime, posting their names, businesses, Facebook accounts, etc. is just as bad as the pillorying of the housekeeper from earlier this week. If those people were wanted in connection with this crime, I'm pretty sure Lanier would've said so.

excuse me op, but why are you on here? to spank people? you can just watch tv and find out who they arrest in the end.
