Option H is permanent and the old Wootton HS campus will be closed for good?

Well he also thought Crown was in King Farm, so that should tell you something about how much he knows about what’s going on.

He only cares about what makes him look good. You don’t think he wants to stay in his role forever, right?

No wonder Wootton is a pressure cooker.
Ridiculous.

This thread is insane because people who don’t go to W schools love any opportunity to hate on W schools. Don’t yell at me for saying the truth.

I thought the truth was that 40 staff members left Wootton last year. Some changes are needed.

Don’t defect.
Also if you really want to know the truth, you know why? I’ve spoken with several staff who have left.
They told me the new principal is terrible. Made them all teach new subjects—there was public argument in front of kids because the principal tried to make the biology teacher who has been teaching biology for DECADES to switch to physics for no reason but his demented philosophy of changing things up. Things were so bad the teacher union had to intervene on behalf of teachers.
O and who installed this wonderful principal. Dr. Taylor 👌👌👌

So let me get this straight: Wootton parents are responsible for the terrible building condition. And we’re also responsible for this joke of a principal who is forcing teachers out?

Do you realize how stupid you sound? Dont talk about things you know nothing about.

The truth is Wootton kids remain stars and crush it despite a terrible building and a terrible principal, neglect from BOE and hatred from the community.

Fine we’ll continue to thrive despite this. We will thrive ON WOOTTON PARKWAY

You sound like a real winner.

The PP is and hit upon a simple truth. Wootton kids have succeeded in spite of MCPS, not because of it. They are the real winners here and you can’t handle it. Shame on you for attacking children….

Noone is attacking the kids. It sounds like YOU are unhappy with Wootton and taking it out on everyone else.

Crown was a gift so had to be built. IT only makes sense to use it and change the usage of Wootton until the time comes that the enrollment justifies another high school.

If it was a gift, why did it have to be built? Gift can be returned for better use. It should have been used as a holding school instead of continuing to burden Wootton with a poor decision.

Do you understand what Wootton residents are being asked to sacrifice? First, their school was closed and students were relocated with a boundary change. Then, within the next decade, the school is overcrowded and the community is split again and forced to move once more due to another boundary change. Why should the same group of residents endure repeated disruption just to cover up MCPS’s mistake?

I am a Wootton parent and this is just so embarassing. It makes th emost sense. Give me Option H and a brand new building! Enough already!

How about whoever voluntarily want to go to Crown go to crown and leave rest majority of us at Wootton?

Let’s have a creative solution.

Why doesn’t the PP who is a Wootton parent and pro-H just move to Gaithersburg and attend Crown?

This is such a douchebag take and has been addressed multiple times but honestly GFY

Idk how many years out that would be.

Because Wootton advocates wanted a new school, till they got one.

Taylor was not giving open and receptive vibes on video today. Any different perspectives from those looking him in the eye?

Just look at what they’ve done to the colleges they’ve investigated. Total elimination of funds. They go scorched earth. Do you really think the best thing for our kids is having this regime threaten MCPS and stop all federal funding until their/your demands are met?! I can’t think of a more irresponsible or self-sabotaging move than to try to get MAGA attacking MCPS. We know that no investigation would be fair. It would be indescribably harmful to our kids, reckless financially, and ultimately harmful to your goals.

Great, so don’t pick H. Problem avoided. Play stupid games, get stupid prizes.

To this and other previous (same??) posters sneaking in TSwift lyrics because of the Taylor connection, I salute you!

He's never been open or receptive. He listens and does what he wants. This isn't going to end well for anyone.

His hands are tied financially. He has to sit there and listen to the blah blah but my grandparents walked to this very school 55 years ago but that don’t make ends meet.

Financially, they are tied due to past and current mismanagement. He's hurt many families claiming there is no money when there is.

PUBLIC finance is complicated and political, there are winners and losers and everyone feels entitled, and to top it off the decision makers come and go. Not saying it’s fair, but it’s reality. If you want full control, you take the matter PRIVATE.

No, it did not have to be built. I love how everyone thinks they know facts when they don’t. Go look up the deed. It says it can also be used as a public park. If a school truly isn’t needed, why waste millions build it. It could’ve been a great park for community use.

Exactly. This is a stupid mistake that MCPS traps itself in. MCPS could have returned this gift back to Gaithersburg city without any cost.

No, the City of Gaithersburg wanted a new high school. Just like they made MCPS pay for an artificial turf field at their new elementary school and then took over the field for their own use. The City of Gaithersburg wants bling.

Wonderful. Give it to Gaithersburg. Leave Rockville and Potomac alone.

Bingo. But that might leave Crown under enrolled and MCPS would be embarrassed. Also, MCPS wants an instant academic reputation for Crown to justify spending $400M on a new school and to satisfy the developers who poured billions into developing Crown, so it just transplants kids from a top performing school 3+ miles away. “Mission Accomplished” moment and Taylor looks good after being spanked by the Supreme Court last year.

where do you come up with this stuff?

H is almost universally hated. Sure no one option is going to get 100% support or 100% hate, but H—by far—has the most amount of opposition and least amount of support. Nearly everyone at Wootton hates it. Damascus and Magruder hate it.

It’s not even the cheapest option. See above thread.
So tell me, besides “mission accomplished” transplanting some of the top academic students in the county into a school they don’t want to be in, what’s the upside to H?

My general feeling about H was that it's trying to solve two things at once.

When the Superintendent proposed using Crown as a Holding School, Wootton parents were some of the most outspoken in support. I saw a petition circulated saying how dangerous Wootton was in an attempt to get Crown placed as a Holding School and get Wootton some much needed fixes faster.

Crown parents were on the opposite side; they wanted the high school they were promised and paid for in extra taxes, instead of having to be bussed away from the school in walking distance and kids from other schools bussed in.

Option H is an attempt to satisfy both groups. Wootton gets a safe school building, local Crown students get a walkable school in their neighborhood.

? Gaithersburg residents paid extra taxes for Crown?

I thought the land was given to MCPS by the developers, and MCPS's budget built Crown.

Yes they paid extra.

It would be really educational and illuminating for all of us to see a copy of one of these tax bills that residents paid out of pocket. Where can I find a copy of one of these impact tax bills?

Dr. Taylor here chiming in. What, did you all think I don't follow DCUM? You should know that now that I've read the threats of lawsuit on this random anonymous internet forum, I will totally change my mind. Know that whatever I eventually propose was done in response to what I read here.

You guys should have pooled your money to fix the a/c or whatever’s wrong instead of padding your lawyer buddy’s pockets.
