A competing Go Fund Me from a kid who is maybe per the hopeful WOC troll here “graduating early from high school” and yet has the time to game the system to ride a highly coveted e-bike from 5:53pm to 10:12pm, stopping every 45 minutes to redock the bike and avoid higher charges, but still laying claim to the bike. With a family who still do not want to acknowledge that this is not how the Citi bike process is designed to work. He and his buddies commandeer the bike he has not Re-rented by ALL accounts to prevent an adult, alone, working an indisputably difficult job, from getting home. Also the whole “WhItE TeArS” thing is so gross to me. It’s NYC, 2023. The police don’t give a single solitary F about 2 people bickering over a rental bike. The police in any major city wouldn’t get involved. They don’t get involved when people are assaulted on public transit and when people are openly using and selling drugs and running out of stores with bags full of stolen merchandise - why would they, presumably, beat up someone over a disputed rental bike? I don’t believe you’re being sincere. There are additional twitter hits, millions more views, additional followers for the accounts that defamed the PA with claims of theft and attempting to get boys killed - all of that is new. She’s been treated cruelly. Her prospects have been damaged, and no one else’s and now there’s a fund and someone here saying HER crowdsourced funds for legitimate attorneys fees (since she has viable claims) should be dismantled.

So - in sincerity, you can’t be serious. I would feel destroyed were I in her position and living in the city where I’ve lived for years and am raising my own family, knowing that people have been told I’m a racist. I don’t use the bike system but life in NYC would feel unsupportable for me.

It's not clear they have a lawyer either. Their GoFundMe is a little vague--it talks about "the lawyer" without giving a name and says another goal is to counter the bad publicity they're getting. And it clearly states that any money not used for these purposes will go to the family.

Maybe they're hoping to retain a lawyer. I don't know.
