Trump’s Dementia

Unfortunately, that photo of him asleep is doctored to have his head lolled to the side more than it actually was. But he was still clearly asleep.

Trump had another mental health episode and spiraled out of control on social media last night:
12:18am - Demands Chuck Schumer resign 12:19am - Posts a tweet saying Obama tried to “overthrow the government in 2016.” 12:22am - Reposts a statement from Sen. Mike Lee calling for the filibuster to be removed 12:27am - Posts a conspiracy video alleging Obama and Hillary Clinton committed treason 12:27am - Posts a tweet from a MAGA account calling for Obama and Clinton to be arrested for treason
12:28am - Another post calling for treason charges against Obama and Clinton 12:28am - Yet another post demanding treason charges for Obama and Clinton 12:29am - Posts an AI image of a man holding a sign 1:13am - Demands the 2020 election be “wiped from the books and be of no further force or effect.” 2:43am - Posts about Clint Eastwood complimenting him 2:44am - Posts about Elon Musk calling the Southern Poverty Law Center a “scam” 2:45am - Posts about a far-right podcast

And it continued

These aren’t blunders. Dementia and old age have robbed him of his filters, and he just says out loud whatever passes through his brain, even if he’s on camera. In that moment, he’s thinking like a businessman—ie, what he could do with this business opportunity presented by a failing airline—a businessman still stuck in the 1980s (when People Express went out of business). If you’ll notice, a lot of his references are to the 1980s and also the 1990s, his “peak” as a playboy businessman. Since he’s always in front of a camera or on social media, we keep getting his unfiltered, uninformed thoughts in what feels like a continuous stream. It’s pure ID all the time.

Totally agree.

Someone needs to hijack Fox News distribution and display all these tapes and texts.

ASLEEP 💤 AT THE WHEEL

Trump is about to hit 😴 REM 😴on camera during an Oval Office event. It's just incredible. Fully 55% of Americans say Trump does not have the mental soundness to serve as president, according to Fox News poll, up 7 points since late 2024 and near the high of 56% in 2023. #healthcare #MAGA #GasPrices

Opinion column:

Starts off with a bit of Dem bashing, but then:

We have a serious situation on our hands, and we must take some practical steps to address it. Vibes and grandstanding are a luxury we can no longer afford.

President Trump appears to be deteriorating by the day. He is confabulating. He is demonstrating poor judgment. Even before he began threatening to commit genocide against Iran and posted a picture of himself as Jesus, he had been exhibiting poor impulse control.

He has also begun speaking like a six-year-old. He talks about “nuclear dust” and says things like, “They’ve dropped a couple of water mines. … We’ve defeated all of their water boats, too.”

It’s tempting to laugh at this behavior. But even though it is bizarre, none of it is funny. Trump will be 80 years old in June, and he is showing all the signs of dementia. That’s a tragedy that I would not wish on anyone, regardless of what I think of their politics.

Now let me stop you right there. Indeed, you cannot properly diagnose a medical condition without a proper medical diagnosis. But it is up to us lay people to recognize the warning signs of dementia in everyday life and take appropriate steps to get a proper medical diagnosis. If you had a grandparent behaving like Trump does, you would insist on immediate medical intervention and a comprehensive mental and physical evaluation. On a practical level, you would be very concerned about trusting him with a car, much less the Fifth Fleet.

They all know this horrible man is a fraud who has dementia that's very dangerous for the country. Yet they act like nothing's happening, all is well. This is insanity, yet it continues unabated.

And it's not like they haven't griped about Trump all these years. They've hated him for years. In the first term, the GOP congress was already complaining about him behind closed doors.

I blame the rightwing media ecosystem, owned in part by Murdoch. That man has wrought destruction on the USA. The Trump cult has taken a life of its own, and elected representatives are afraid to organize against the President because they fear what the rightwing pundits will tell the base. Meanwhile, as was seen during the last Trump term, these same media pundits think very poorly of Trump, but go along because... they think he's untouchable???

Everyone seems to be waiting for someone else to not be a coward.

There's a famous story about Stalin where he gave a speech and everyone clapped. And clapped. And clapped. They clapped and clapped because no one wanted to be the first one that stopped clapping. Finally someone thought "This is ridiculous -- we've clapped for a very long time." and stopped clapping and sat down. Everyone was very relieved to finally stop clapping. And guess what happened to that brave dude who was the first to stop clapping?
It may be apocryphal, but that's the vibe we're living in.

I can't see the video well enough to see if any of the many men in business suits standing there awkwardly react at all when RFK Jr. displays a total lack of understanding of math.
I love it when one of the supporting characters breaks and shows some actual human reaction like "Wait, what now?"

I'm sorry, but I burst out laughing when I got to the Clint Eastwood part. It's like definitional delusional boomer dementia. It's not funny, I know.

Horrible. Not just the moron-in-chief and worm brain, but the others nodding like the enablers they are. This right here is exactly what they do all day long.

Ma'am, this is a Dem leaning forum. We recognized he was unfit for office in his 1st term. His dementia is merely a cormibitity.

He has been diagnosed by hundreds of psychiatric doctors as a sadistic psychopath, along with most of his cabinet displaying some version of the same. Personally, I prefer he remain in office.

We'll take care of the rest...
