Paywalled. But that said, there are big problems with that article as half of the 8 million have in fact already returned over the last year.

Ignore. Natasha needs new propaganda. The article basically says "the number of divorces dropped to 17,893 in 2022 from 29,587 in 2021"

News flash. "In 2019, Military One Source reported that 30,608 [US] active duty, guard, and reserve marriages ended in divorce" Why? A lot of women don't want to be single moms, so they tend to divorce military men on long deployments. <Yawn>

What you didn't mention was what the Russian divorce rate is. 2021 - 644,210

Why?

"Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said that women should give birth as early in life as possible rather than pursuing their education and building careers."
“A belief has developed that a woman should first get an education and build a career and that only after that should she think about having children."
"this “responsibility” should be explained to girls “in their school days” and should be promoted on Russia’s online government services portal. He said that postponing childbirth is a “depraved practice”

You see, no matter how you paint the picture, Russia is failing as a State. It's dying. This is a process that started long ago and is just accelerating now due to the War in Ukraine. But this also makes Russia more dangerous than it's ever been - even in the '50's or '60's - like a rabid dog that knows if it gives up, it will be put to rest.

Lol have you seen the Ukrainian demographic trends since 1991?

Lol should a country on the cusp of banning abortion lecture others on women’s place in society?

Best case, they keep their gains in Donbas and Crimea. But no one on the planet recognizes it. Sanctions stay on forever. Russia is a pariah state. Their economy tanks. Russians become poorer. There will be endless local resistance. Most Russian soldiers will die one way or another. Much of the area will be uninhabitable for decades anyway because of mines. The entire planet loathes Russia. Europe moves on from Russian energy. They used to have Germany paying a premium. Now it's just India taking advantage of Russia's weakness.

Where is the Russian win?

Please... sanctions are not forever. There will be a de facto border at some point. Life will go in, because this is a minor conflict that will be forgotten just as quickly as it was before Putin's recent escalation.

The entire planet doesn't loathe Russia. Most regular people on the planet couldn't care less.

Fanciful thinking that Russia will seamlessly re-integrate back into the world. Putin will have to be dead or deposed. Their new president will be forced to pay a big price.

Russia never disconnected from the world, silly. Business is more pragmatic than a DCUM chest thumper. Markets have have no memories, the second sanctions lift, investors will stream back in.

Russian breakthrough.

As war goes worse for Ukraine, corruption will ramp up further as oligarchs and generals cash in before the fall.

Why do you think the war is going worse for Ukraine? There are lot of new developments. Some critics complained the Ukrainian offensive 'stalled', but I disagree.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ukrainian-armed-forces-gain-foothold-061200095.html

This helps encircle Russian troops in Bakhmut:
"Ukrainian forces have captured the high ground surrounding Klischiivka, a little less than two miles south of Andriivka"

This should cut off all resupply routes to Melitopol and Sevastopol (and the Crimean peninsula), with the exception of route M14 and the Black Sea:
"Ukrainian troops had gained ground in the vicinity of Staromaiorske"

This threatens route M14:
"Russians made unsuccessful attempts to restore the lost position northeast of Robotyne"

Remember that the Ukrainians don't necessarily need to capture M14, they can just mine or crater it constantly. Rostov on Don (headquarters in Russia for the Ukrainian offensive - you remember - this is where Prigozhin dropped by on his way to Moscow) is a five hour drive away from Robotyne (without landmines).

"Ukraine’s Defense Ministry warned on July 20 that it would consider all ships heading to Russian ports in the Black Sea, as well as to ports in the temporarily occupied territories, as "carrying military cargo with all the relevant risks.""
https://www.yahoo.com/news/ukraine-attacks-russian-patrol-ship-121200698.html

This was a good reciprocal move by the Ukrainians, since this means that Russian's can't completely rely on Black Sea-based cargo either. Since M14, Black-Sea port calls, and the Kerch bridge are the primary re-supply routes into the Crimean peninsula, it could be a rough winter for any troops are civilians there.

Once the Ukrainian government is prepared to take out M14, my guess is they will make an announcement that all civilians should leave the Crimean peninsula. Once word of M14 being cut off gets out, my guess is the Russian-aligned civilians would panic long before that happens; perhaps even clogging M14 and the Kerch Bridge themselves? This will likely cause a domino mass panic-effect in Russian troops, since the Russian troops would be nearly impossible to re-supply. Cutting off M14, Kerch Bridge and Black Sea ships would make all of the Crimean peninsula a "last stand" for any troops there.

"Russian tourist in Crimea complains about rockets"

If the "Russian riviera" is under siege (and it's a terrible beach - nothing but pebbles..), I would think this will significantly impact Russian morale on the home-front?

Not that GDP is the be-all-end-all of economic health, but the IMF certainly doesn't see the Russian economy tanking in 2023, or 2024 for that matter.

https://www.imf.org/en/Publications/WEO/Issues/2023/07/10/world-economic-outlook-update-july-2023

Germany on the other hand is looking at a negative growth 2023.

They don't even try to provide estimates for Ukraine in 2024 or further out. Wonder why that could be...

This kind of nonsense is why every non-Russian company needs to shut down and pull all of their resources out of Russia.

This thread has to been taken over by a clownish pro-Russian troll who claims the most laughably fake stuff, and a pro-Ukrainian over-enthusiastic poster who goes crazy refuting them.

You two suck all the air out of the discussion, because no one else can get a word in when you bicker and clog up the thread.

The point of a discussion is that we can all contribute. It would be nice if you could both calm down and post less. Only one of you is a troll at the service of a dictator, but the other is honestly also getting pretty annoying.

Russia is amateur hour. Don't they know you put your children on the boards of these companies where they don't have to do any work instead of in an executive position where they actually have to do something. Sheesh.

Russia recruiting all that investment money just waiting on the sideline to get back in. Nothing like the excitement of investing in a dictatorship that will take your assets on a whim.

Lots of people weren't aware of this, or stuck their head in the sand when it happened. Between random Russians getting their property stolen and the whole nation getting kicked off SWIFT, it really turned a lot of countries against the US.

It's not like that happened for no reason. Maybe you're unaware that Russia conducted an illegal and illegitimate invasion of their neighbor, an attack and invasion which was almost universally condemned and an overwhelming majority of nations voted in the UN to demand Russia's complete withdrawal. Maybe don't invade for no reason other than your own lies. As for "a lot of countries turned against the US" be honest - that's the 5 or so countries still in Russia's pathetic orbit like Belarus, Syria and Cuba.

I agree, you truly are clownish. I certainly hope you don't actually believe any of the ridiculous talking points you're posting. Certainly nobody else here does.
