And already, his life has been permanently altered. Nice.

Nothing has happened to his life. This will all be old news in a couple of weeks and he will be on the SCOTUS.

B.S. Whether he is or isn't confirmed, his life will never be the same. Thanks in large part to people like you.

I’m sorry but so what? Statistically speaking, she’s probably telling the damn truth.

But you don't know that she is. No one knows who's telling the truth. And I certainly care about an innocent man being treated as if he's guilty. You claim to also, but of course, only if we're talking about a POC. Right?

It doesn't matter. If you have a hint of scandal = NO SUPREME COURT

He was a wild guy in high school and partied a lot. Those are the breaks.

Funny that didn't come out until so late in the process. Really funny.

or during all the years of his adult life in which no one has every come forward with anything of this nature

People - women - don't come forward with this type of allegation because they fear the very criticism and speculation Ford's allegations brought to her.

That backlash against the accuser can be as painful as the initial assault. Sure, innocent until proven guilty, but accusers have the right to come forward without being painted as angry/crazy/unstable/loose/embittered (fill in the blank) harpies who were out to ruin Brett's very fine and upstanding career. Which is exactly how conservatives have painted Ford.

Conservatives just want these women to shut up. Unless of course they are making accusations against a Democrat and then conservatives are so very concerned about women (Franken).

Then 15 year old girls should not drink beer at parties with older athletes who are heavy drinkers.

Yep. It's her fault that Kavanaugh assaulted her. He is a beast when drunk, and she should have known better.

Bingo. Walk across the street when the light is turning yellow and you might get hit by a car. Drink alcohol at 15 with known heavy drinkers and you might get groped.
Measure your risk and act accordingly. It’s s pretty basic concept of look both ways that kids learn.

And, act like a jerk or worse while drunk and accept the consequences, including allegations that might impact a potential job promotion.

NP. Give it a rest! I believe Dr. Ford's allegations are credible. I am glad, thanks to Senator Flake (an honest man and I admire his principles, and if he runs for Presidential nomination and becomes Republican candidate, I will weigh seriously his suitability vs. Democratic candidate to cast my vote) FBI is conducting investigation about the allegations. That doesn't mean I through wildly crazy aspersions against Judge Kavanaugh.

Always blame the victim. Boys will be boys.

Look she was a 15 year old partier. She took a risk and it didn’t cut her way.

Same for Kavanaugh. He was a partier. Now it's not cutting his way.

That’s correct. We know she put herself at risk, what we don’t know is who acted on that risk b

There is something fishy about his overt public displays of masculinity (both during the alleged incidents, and during the hearings). Actual rapists tend to operate in secret, and former classmates have already stated that he seemed to be performing more for his buddies than the women. He also got married at the age of 39, to a religious woman 10 years his junior.

Ding, ding, ding.

He was also into "Devil's Triangles," while seeming to not care at all about women. I wouldn't be surprised, frankly, if he was closeted.

But it’s a neighborhood where other Supreme Court justices, Yalies, journalists and other power players live. He knows what he wants and is clawing to get it. That’s not really what Supreme Court justices do - there’s not supposed to be a career path to the highest court.

FYI - we have a similar HHI and we can’t afford our $650,000 house , never mind a 1.3 million dollar house. And we have no law school debts even.

Same. We have a similar income, a $650k house, no other debt and do alright, but could certainly not afford a country club (or two) and two private school tuitions.

I've read many, many times on this forum that there are a lot of people in DC who have help from wealthy parents for home purchases. Are the Kavanaughs somehow an exception?

Well - was that parental ‘help’ reported as income and taxes paid on it? Because that’s the law.

Wrong. The donor pays the tax, if applicable. From IRS.gov
The donor is generally responsible for paying the gift tax. Under special arrangements the donee may agree to pay the tax instead. Please visit with your tax professional if you are considering this type of arrangement.

If they pay education expenses, that is exempt. Each person can gift $14k to another person, so if both parents gift him and his wife, that is $56k a year tax free. It is also common for parents to pay the country club membership, and the grandkids private school.

I know lots of people like this. They either have trusts or parents pay for everything.

And yet refused to release his financials. THAT EVERY OTHER SC NOMINEE HAS DONE.

I will ask again... why aren’t the Dems on the committee harping on this? Because it was discussed in closed session, where it should have been. The matter is closed.

Imagine your entire reputation and career on the grandest national stage coming down to your most messed up friend from high school, who probably knows things about you that you don’t even know, because you don’t remember.

That SNL skit was gold.

I hope it does what Melissa McCarthy and Tina Fey accomplished - ruin his political career.

Yes, Ford should be a bit concerned since her dear friend could not corroborate her story.

It was tasteless.
And, your second comment reveals so much about you. Destroy him - at all costs!

He lost it when questioned by the prosecutor. If he had ended up in a criminal court he would have lost dismally.
The prosecutor wasn't even TRYING to upset him and he could not handle it.

There is no way this guy belongs on the supreme court.

Sorry but his approach of not asking for a FBI investigation to clear his name and letting it all ride in the hearing did not work.

He is pathetic.

Tasteless would have been if they had made fun of his wife or the prosecutor. They nailed the actual hearing though. NAILED IT.
