Lost 6 in a row and ended the season with 3 straight losses and gave up 5 goals in the 4th. Don't be impressed. The investment isn't a good one.

"At times Prep showed its potential with gritty performances against Taft, Don Bosco, and Good Counsel. "

Six game losing streak and three straight losses to end the year are all due to the goalie? Does anyone else play for Prep? "Giving up five goals in the 4th" -- were these shots he should have saved? At this level, if guys get their hands free within 15 yards of the goal they're EXPECTED to score, no matter who's playing in the cage.

No kid on prep but I am a goalie parent, this is ridiculous. No idea what your issue with this kid is but he played well when Prep played my son's team and I've heard other people same the same.

There were about 6 other reasons on why GP underwhelmed but since you want to focus on goalie, here goes.

W/L 6-9. GAA - 8.7 GAA in losses - 10.7. Wins against teams with winning record = 2 and that might be 1 if GZ loses. Remember, those win numbers are fluffed with the likes of STA, EHS and SSSAS.
Last year's record with the current benched goalies = 11-5.

It's not an issue with the kid, but with the coach shoving his choice down the team's throat to try and prove he made a good decision. I'm sure the kid is a straight A student with lovely parents and he does a ton of community service, but you better believe if Logan Thompson goes down 0-3 the Caps are switching him out regardless of performance.

Some of this goalie drama may be true, but the brutal Prep offense was arguably their biggest issue.

100% Agree. Prep needs more than a goalie.

I would say that's true for a lot of the WCAC and IAC schools this year. There are a lot of dads puffing out their chests about their kids going to great programs, but from what I've seen, I'm not sure most of these kids will see the field unless they work a lot harder and get a lot better. I'm baffled by some of these supposed 4-5 stars.

To make the STA goalie mom happy, the decision to start a boarder sophomore attack and a mid-year transfer boarder sophomore attack added nothing to the team. The 3 attack play the same style of crease cut and the 5 star has zero 0 interest in passing, especially to sophomores. It didn't help the goalie with many, many possessions ending in the first 30 seconds of the clock after 1 or 2 passes.
GP benches a junior who might've been the only team type of player of the offensive 6. Guess where he learned to play and transferred from. The rest of the offense was clearly looking to put highlights on tape.
All of the these moves sent messages to the rest of the roster that paying more $ got you into the lineup and you better get your shot up because the ball is not coming back to you.

It wasn't all their folks, just the 30% fogo.

SJC would beat Ryken 9 out 10 times they played. Remember that SJC beat SMR 8-3 during the regular season, at Ryken. SJC grossly underestimated SMR on Tuesday, played sloppy and unfocused, and was confused by a zone defense. Those things would get fixed in a rematch. Ultimately SJC talent would prevail. They underestimated SMR, blew a late lead and panicked because they weren't used to being in that position, and lost in OT. It happens.

All this talk about a "dumpster fire", a "mess", and a bunch of transfers is silly.

SJC had won 9 of their last 10 games heading into Tuesday (with an OT loss to DM as the only blemish). This was a big upset, but not the end of the world. Definitely not a dumpster fire.

SJC haters are clearly enjoying the moment. But SJC will back and better next season. And they were actually pretty darned good this season.

Lot of "would haves" in here. Agree that it isn't the end of the world and SJC is likely to be competitive again for best in the DMV.

However, SJC surrendered an awful loss that alone might qualify as a dumpster fire to some, because they handled Ryken earlier, lost at home to a much lower seeded team, etc.

The Ince loss to the staff may have hurt more than anticipated based on inconsistent performances this year, and this year's team made a lot more unforced mistakes than recent ones.

I suspect they'll rebound from this, but we are clearly well removed from the '22 success, and the verdict is out on whether the Cadets can year in and year out be one of the region's best.

I believe the fogo Milo Tronkowski (Macnamara 18’) was the most dominant fogo in dmv highschool history. I would love to see him face off against these new school “punks”.

Anyone else in the IAC would get overpowered and beat down by a team like SJC. If there lucky to get any shots off, the tender for SJC will surely stop them.

A real matchup I’d be interested in is SJC vs an established team like Spaulding or Calvert Hall. I think, thanks to SJCs aggressiveness and strength, they could take any of these teams in a 5 game series.

Bullis 96’ alum here. Agree with this take, none of these IAC bums could hold a candle to some real WCAC ball played on Military Road.

Mahilovik, is that you? It’s me Higgins. We had Spanish 2 together in 94. I can tell by your superb diction.

Friendly advice to GP parent(s) trying to litigate kids playing time on DCUM: It was a rough season, but sniping DS's teammates on here is not a good look for you or the program. The kids and coaches all wanted to win and did their best. Have DS talk directly to coach and let them hash it out. Lacrosse skills are useless 4 years after HS graduation. Life lessons, character, and relationships with teammates endure.

Did they?

The advice to hash it out with the coaches won't work. The coaches will take it as an affront to their authority and will most likely punish the kid by putting him deeper on the bench. When you are at a private, you hope your position is spared by the next transfer or big donor.
