So over APS

You lost me at Costco on a Monday. I don't go to Costco, or anywhere else, during the workday because I am working.

So you don’t get a lunch break? Please.

Yes, I get a half-hour lunch break. I have a job much like a teacher's where I get my evenings and weekends off, but I am expected to be at work during the day. My lunch break is barely long enough to walk my dog and eat a lunch that I prepared the night before. Seriously, you people either have very lax work ethics or you have the kind of job where you can take a conference call at Costco; teachers can't do that.

Ya lost me at Costco on Monday; if you were a teacher at my child's school and I saw you at Costco on Monday (which I wouldn't, because I'm at home working), I'd rat you out to the neighborhood, too.

Very petty. There’s no way in hell you put in the hours I did this past year.

Evenings and weekends off? Sometimes. LOL

And while I appreciate your dedication to your job and your students, you are mistaken if you believe that what you do is what your colleagues are doing. It is not a personal attack on you, it is a cry for help.

And you are mistaken if you think that ALL the other teachers in APS are doing what your child's teacher is doing. You don't even state what school it is, you just tar all APS teachers with the same brush. It simply isn't fair to do this....it could be that your child's teacher is the exception, not the rule. Out of 2,000 APS teachers, MOST have been working extremely hard this year, just as MOST parents have been doing their best to help their kids this year. But here, on DCUM, all we hear is complaints and whining.

Right. My comments are limited to my kid’s 7 teachers. They may not be bad people. I wouldn’t know. What I’m complaining about is the complete lack of management to make sure all teachers are doing their jobs. You know, I also work really hard in my job, and I don’t lose my mind if my customers are unhappy. I listen and try to do better. We are ALL on the edge, but just teachers. But I dare anyone to say that our kids aren’t suffering the worst and that we should do better for them. Teachers who can’t say that frankly don’t deserve my respect.

Which school?

NP - but most of my WMS student's teachers are still 100% remote.. so frustrating.

MOST? I'm a parent with 2 kids at WMS and I'm throwing the flag on that. One or two of your kid's teachers, maybe.

Disagree - several of my 7th grader's (WMS) teachers are also remote.

They're vaccinated and still remote? How do they or the school justify that?

Zero accountability from the top. Another major misstep

This has been discussed ad nauseum. Only 1 of my kids WMS teachers is remote. Any teacher who is remote was either approved through the federal process (ADA) or was approved for leave of absence without pay, and a substitute could not be found, so they were asked to continue working from home until such substitute could be found and one could not because who would want this job this year for the crap sub pay. So the alternative for these teachers would have been that their classes had no teacher and no substitute. They did APS a favor.

I’m so grateful my kids’ two excellent but remote teachers at WMS were able to stay on. Long term sub? No thanks.

My God there's 3.5 days of school left. Rehashing the same anger over and over again in these spaces won't change a damn thing.

Here's to next fall. Truly looking forward to see what you'll whine about then.

HA! That is why I am so over APS.

One more year until younger sibling joins older one at private HS. It can't come soon enough.

Yep. Complaining about high risk teachers who got virtual teaching positions was never a good look. Even worse in the last week of school.

And this is for middle schoolers who can handle a class or two with a virtual teacher. Come on.

Last gasp of the angry white males: Must ... have ... last ... three ... days ... be ... in-person.

We still haven't heard back from the parent who said all 7 of her child's teachers were remote. Hmmm....wonder if they were exaggerating?
