What's your controversial food opinion?

As in-you just skip it? I feel that way about breakfast.

Yes, I can't be bothered to stop what I'm doing for a freaking sandwich or salad.

I like to explore and experiment with food and master new cooking methods and such but I also like to just fall back sometimes to some of the food I grew up with. Last night it was pot roast, melt in your mouth meat and grave and potatoes and carrots and onions and celery.

As for Thanksgiving, don't put ANYTHING in your cranberry sauce except cranberries and sugar. You can add citrus in your cranberry bread.

Agree about cranberries, except also omit making cranberry bread.

Biscuits are a waste of flour. I would not be bothered by them if KFC and Popeyes do not charge me for them.

+1 I will second that. Panera is disgusting. I can not for the life of me understand why anyone would eat there. I'd go to Mc Donalds before I'd eat panera

Anonymous wrote:Food trucks should only serve traditional tacos that you eat at 1 am after too many drinks. I don’t like eating my food standing up and I definitely don’t want your quirky sushi-grilled-cheese-fusion served from a questionable truck kitchen.

+1

Food trucks are overrated. I don't want to pay $20 for your Mexican/Asian fusion shrimp taco wontons with refritos that I have to wait in line for.

Cheap store brand butter that's always on sale tastes 99% as good as the expensive Euro stuff. As long as the only ingredients are cream and salt, it's going to taste good.

Consider trying a nice fresh natural peanut butter lightly spread inside a sharp cheddar quesadilla.

Ew WTF?? Now that is controversial.

I KNOW.

But think about trying it sometime. It's not what you would expect at all.

You sweet thing. You really are pushing this!

OK, we might need a separate thread for the people you want to win over.
I have Ortega soft tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese and Jif. Will that work? Or do I need top tier ingredients?

+1

I can’t stand the way some places make big, “gourmet” burgers. Just give me a crispy little patty from off of a flattop grill, top it with boring American cheese, the usual basic toppings, a soft regular hamburger bun, and I’m a happy camper! Take your truffle-Brie burger on brioche and get outta here.

+1

It's a cheeseburger, not an art.

+2

patties should be thin and crispy, not giant, medium-rare meatballs.

HERESY. But if you only eat them at those restaurants, I can see how you are mislead. A real biscuit is a buttery melt in the mouth act of wonder.

I can't believe people who still use vegetable oil in their cooking.

Really? You believe the broth ramen you get at a decent ramen place is made from a powder?

That isn't so much controversial as stupid.

Not PP, but I sorta agree -- people who act like a freaking broth is life-changing are cringe. It's all dumb hype to get $15 out of you for a bowl of Asian soup. Not to say it's not often good, just spare me the exaggerated hype.

+1. All shellfish is tasteless. It’s the preparation that might make it worth eating. But lobster is particularly bad and overrated.

Ahhhh my favorite food always and forever. The meat is a delicate sweet flavor but with a wonderful chewy texture (I prefer tail to claw.) I don't even need butter. Now give me frozen lobster tail like the steakhouse serves- yuck! Not even worth eating.

I disagree with this. Most vegan, GF people I know have good reasons.

Agree. They are NOT enjoying having this. There are some fakers out there but I haven’t met one.
