Jury members found that Trump did not rape Carroll but sexually abused her, and awarded damages of $2 million in compensatory damages and $20,000 in punitive damages for battery. The jury awarded $1 million in damages, $1.7 million for reputation repair, and $280,000 in punitive damages, for defamation. The jury reached its verdict after just under three hours of deliberations.” |

Do you mean to say that sexual assault is quite different than rape? Because it's a little different but not "quite different." Or maybe you mean to say that civil liability is quite different than a criminal conviction? Because, yes, there are different standards of proof. But the fact remains that a jury determined that Trump sexually assaulted a woman and then defamed her. If you meant to say what you said, that's like saying "fish are quite different from running." True -- but very confusing! |

This was a civil suit, not a criminal suit. So it was not the NY AG or the NYC city attorney's. |

True but Carroll was able to sue under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, which allows sexual abuse survivors a one-time chance to file civil suits in spite of any relevant statutes of limitations. So thank you NY, thank you Ms Carroll and defense attorneys for bringing some measure of accountability. What is a disgrace is the lack of remorse and ongoing lies of Trump. Disavowing the law suit he still lied to his cult followers that he had no idea who Carroll was : there are photos of them together with their former spouses presented in court . Thank you NY for allowing this modest slice of Justice to be served. |
