Stop the FCV (DA) and McLean (ECNL) hate

Do you live in Maryland or Virginia? If she wants to play HS you need to join an ECNL team in your state because their seasons are opposite.

This is absolutely not true. Some of the McLean ECNL teams have up to 25-30% of girls who play HS soccer in the fall and they make it work.

Sure, but you go from way too much in the fall to absolutely nothing at all in the spring. I wouldn't choose that on purpose.

McLean ECNL boys played in EDP in the spring and did tournaments and showcases.

If you are talking boys, fine. I thought you were talking girls, and they don't do any of that. I still don't know if that's the best balance to have both high school and ECNL in the same season. That's a lot of wear and tear on the body, which could lead to injuries.

Actually, this isn’t true either. There are definitely more league games in the fall (and this can be a lot on a player’s body when combined with a high school schedule), but with four-six league games after Christmas, plus ECNL events like Sanford, Phoenix and PDA and non-ECNL showcases like Jeff Cup, there are still plenty of games in the spring. Also, unlike many (most?) other ECNL clubs in this area, McLean has the same number of practices every week throughout the year, and does not take the HS season off. This means there are still regular practices even in the spring, when VA has HS season.

Very good points. MD is ideal because club soccer is basically shut down during Fall HS season.

Lol. Ideal? Ideal to pay all that money to “shut down” for 4 months and then overload the body the rest of the time to get the games in.

This is why the DA is appealing for so many.

Why must you be so misleading all the dang time. Are you getting paid for this?

Clyde is good.

Nadir is simply a recruiter that takes the teams as they are older and adds in players from his Total Futbol club he owns/runs in the U16+ years.

Thanks! Is Clyde good as in he does a good job or is he a stand out coach and developer of talent? I hear that he is outstanding but if you have a different perspective please share.

Re: Nadir, I have watched his Herndon and MSC teams play and to be fair, they are not ECNL quality teams, i.e talented players from top to bottom, but they are competitive teams who play good soccer.

My DD plays for a small club but we will move her next year to ECNL and Mclean is the best choice in terms of logistics but I wanted to make sure the coaching is strong as well.

Nadir is a very good soccer coach. If you don’t know this, then you’ve not seen his teams nor watched him coach practices. I am not a huge fan of some of his sideline antics, but he knows soccer and how to coach it. He and Clyde make McLean an attractive option.

PP here. I did not imply that Nadir wasn~t a good coach. I said I have watched his non-ECNL teams play and they are very competitive teams that don~t have the same level of talent of the top ECNL teams. I have not seen his ECNL teams play but the fact that they are top ECNL teams and win major brackets, you have to assume that he is doinga great job.

If the McLean coaches are so good and BRYC's so bad, why are the programs even in the ECNL standings (BRYC is ahead in three age groups, McLean is ahead in the other three) despite McLean having a huge rec program and (so we're repeatedly told) being the premier ECNL destination for talent in the region.

Seems like those Ferraris should being doing better against the Hyundais.

As opposed to the fancy ECNL one?
