Stop the FCV (DA) and McLean (ECNL) hate

Anonymous
Two things can be simultaneously true. First, that it is a very different landscape now than it was 2 years ago (when FCV and Mclean were the only clubs in town for girls who wanted to play D1 and therefore automatically got their pick of players) and second, that FCV and Mclean may nonetheless continue to be at the top of the “elite” club pile despite thee being other options for those same elite players.
It’s crazy to argue that dilution won’t impact FCV and Mclean at all. It will.
It’s also crazy to argue that dilution will undoubtedly lead to those clubs now sliding to the bottom of the pile. It won’t.
How the clubs react and position themselves and, no doubt, perform in their respective leagues will matter. How their college placements go will matter too. So will drive time.
In five years we’ll all know how it shook out.

Not one single person said or implied that FCV or McLean would slide to the bottom. What has been suggested is that their dominance is no longer assured.

I know people are complaining about McLEan but doesn't the club have Watson who is highly respected and Nasir, who won national club coach of the year.

Clyde is good.

Nadir is simply a recruiter that takes the teams as they are older and adds in players from his Total Futbol club he owns/runs in the U16+ years.

Thanks! Is Clyde good as in he does a good job or is he a stand out coach and developer of talent? I hear that he is outstanding but if you have a different perspective please share.

Re: Nadir, I have watched his Herndon and MSC teams play and to be fair, they are not ECNL quality teams, i.e talented players from top to bottom, but they are competitive teams who play good soccer.

My DD plays for a small club but we will move her next year to ECNL and Mclean is the best choice in terms of logistics but I wanted to make sure the coaching is strong as well.

Clyde will teach your DD to play the game. Not a lot of individual technical skills, but tactical teaching is what Clyde does best.

I've found this same teaching method at all the top clubs. The expectation is kids are juggling and doing technical work at home. Club practice is primarily, however not completely, for tactical.

how can you be sure that she will move to ECNL? I'm wondering how you know she will make a team.

Clearly a Nadir person. They live over to ecnl Mclean when athletes are older. Not a bad move wish I had thought of it. You save money and stress and your kid is well prepared.

I don't know if she will but she will try out for the teams in the area which include Bethesda, Mclean, MDUnited and Loudoun. BRYC is too far. I asked about Mclean because the thread is Mclean. DA is not an option because DD wants to do HS.

Don't just show up at tryouts... have her attend practices with the teams she is interested in ahead of time.

Do you live in Maryland or Virginia? If she wants to play HS you need to join an ECNL team in your state because their seasons are opposite.

How is BRYC too far but Loudoun isn't? Where do you live?
