Exactly. You would think that since these people can do confidently read the future, they would be much too successful to be wasting their time on these forums.

Unfortunately for them, the opposite is likely true - they are bitter envious and in denial.

When tryout numbers for FCV ECNL were in the 70's at rising U13 3-5 years ago and they drop to TEN outside players for the current rising U13's that is not a prediction. That is an outcome.

It isn't sour grapes to say that the landscape moving forward is diluted with 7 elite soccer showcase options in NoVA. There is simply less of a need to seek out an environment where your player can play in a college showcase environment.

Let me put it this way. There are no longer ANY destination clubs in NoVA. Every club now has a pathway and no club is special anymore, not FCV, not McLean, not BRYC.

Number of people at ID session is less important than quality of players recruited for team. We won’t know until the fall how good STJ 07 is or isn’t.

No, the size of the available pool to draw from is important. You, or one of your like minded supporters even said so in the following quote:

Expanding player pool with new U8-U12 teams. More feeder teams = more players to choose from = potential for better teams.

Having more players to choose from seemed pretty vital just a couple of posts ago.

Regardless, MANY talented kids did not attend FCV tryouts. Will it matter? Who knows, but it is a sign of how things have changed in a very short time. And remember, FCV is not a decades old institution and this is now the second time they have been sold in a very short period of time. New ownership may prioritize things at the club differently than past previous owners.

FCV is no longer a lock for unquestioned greatness moving forward as they have many questions yet unanswered.

Has anyone noticed that all the FCV supporters keep ignoring the attendance at the STJ tryouts question???? It's only been asked and unanswered at least 20 times....

if you ignore the quality of the training and interest in HS soccer. If you are into HS soccer, McLean just has the best track record and the proven coaches. If you are an elite player at u14 or u15, you can either role the dice with VDA or Loudoun or go with a proven group at McLean (BRYC does not have the numbers). If you don't care about HS, FCV is the proven leader. Time will tell but my money is on FCV and Mclean.

Agree. This was discussed at length in another thread. Some folks just hate the guy/gal at the top. Make judgement based on rumors or misinformation. Of course, there are those that THINK FCV or McLean treated them poorly because their kid got cut or coach didn't pay enough attention...

Move along to another club if you don't like the coach or if the parent wants to interfere...

Until some other club in the local area steps up and knocks down the champs, it's all just talk!

It is and always will be about the players. FCV and McLean have always had their pick of the best 40 players in NoVA per age group. That is no longer the case, they now have to compete for the top players more than ever before. MANY top players are just not bothering to leave their club now that their club has a pathway.

5 years ago both clubs had the top 40 players. Going forward they are lucky if they will get 20 of the top 40 players in NoVA per age group.

I agree with most of this, except even in years past those two clubs did not have the top 40 players. For example, the best 03 player in the area is S Montgomery from BRYC and she is a YNT player. Neither FCV or McLean have any 03s at her level.

She’s never been called into a national camp. Great player but never been called a ynt camp.

Again, it depends on player preference for playing HS. I have heard of girls who bailed on FCV DA to play ECNL and picked McLean over Loudoun even thought Loudoun is closer.

There are Bethesda player that left to join McLean ECNL.

Players go to where the top training is and the belief is that McLean and FCV have to best training for the elite players. I am generalizing but the fact bare out. MU is still building its club and is not a serious option for most players. The same cabn be said of Loudoun and Arlington. McLean and FCV represnt the best options for elite players. Period. That might change tomorrow.

Ok. Regardless. Probably top 5 midfielders at U16 level in the US and ECNL U15 player of the year. Maybe she gets the call this summer. The point is she is not at FCV or McLean. Nor are many top players. This area has produced current YNT players that did not go through either club.

They do not have the top 40 players in the area. The talent has been diluted and younger talent is even more diluted.
