| Here’s a question! Gabby Robinson of VA Washington Spirit DA is Verbally committed to WVU. She made that commitment when she was with BRYC. When signing day comes, who gets the bragging rights? |
It wouldn't be far off to consider that Clyde & Co have access to contacts in a different capacity than Christian & Friends. I don't think Pupione was relevant at that time. |
Easy. Gabby Robinson gets the bragging rights. It doesn't matter if both clubs she played for list HER accomplishment. |
| In the past 5 years BRYC have had players at Virginia tech, Wake Forrest, UVA, Penn State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt they do not do a great job on the website so things can be hard to find but we are talking about the a pretty influential girls program. Meghan McCarthy, Wendy Gabauer, Cindi Harkes, Amanda Cromwell, Mia Hamm, Jill Ellis, and Julie Shackford were all BRYC kids. Those connections are still strong with the club, UCLA were at bryc training in the fall to watch players and Julie Shackford recruits BRYC players heavily. |
If Julie Shackford believes in BRYC, then why did she take her own child to FCV? |
Can you list the players in those 5 years started as freshman or even stepped foot in a game? |
In the top 25 right now BRYC players Vanderbilt - Myra Konte Penn State - Kayleigh Riehl Princeton - Natalie Larkin Tennessee - Kelsey Kiley & Amy Thomson |
Because they offered her a job in the area when she moved back here... |
FALSE! She didn’t join FCV’s staff until a year after she returned! |
Could have been drawn up well before she started at fCV |
| The top 25 changes every year... |
It’s pretty apparent that she’d want her kid to be in the program she was TD’ing. The bigger question is why can’t FCV seem to keep any females in positions of power on their women’s soccer staff. Especially given there are many talented women, who serve as great role models for these young women, out there. |

I'm far from an FCV fan but I'm not going to fault them for failing to keep their commitment list up to date. Yes, the Princeton commit has left, as has the Navy commit. But they've gotten other commits since then too that they haven't added. McLean still has a commit listed on their website that has moved on to BRYC (with a stop at Spirit VA in between).
The BRYC U17 team will not end up with 80% of those kids at D1 schools, and certainly not at top D1 schools. Their best player just committed to W&M, and that is the best soccer school anyone on that team will get a soccer scholarship from. As an aside, BRYC's best 02s (and especially 01/02 Class of 2020 players) are not on the U17 team. Mid-level programs don't just hand out full scholarships either. They are still only 14 scholarships per team and they still need to have 25+ players so the math is straight-forward. Now, will the same high quality player get more from a mid-major than a top program, absolutely. But no matter what level, full athletic scholarships are very uncommon. What does happen is that many of the lower level soccer programs are also less academically challenging, so players will also often qualify for academic scholarships - think Radford, ODU, Longwood, etc. |
Most woman coaches bring their children with them to the same club to play. They have a hard time separating coach and being a mom. |
I would think 80% will end up in D1 schools for soccer, may not be the top ones but they have a good squad and will make playoffs again this year. They have 02s committed to ECU, Coastal Carolina, Navy, Uconn and William and Mary, the u17 team is young so will have a lot more committing this year |
