How many tattoos do you have? Do you think tattoos look sleazy on women?

Made it through page 4 and then had to stop.

The most judgmental uptight messages about how trashy a tattoo can be. Really?

Get over yourselves.

Why do you call people who [strikethrough]doesn't[/strikethrough] don't like tattoo haters? I don't hate them, it's just a matter of taste, you like one thing, I like something else. Just because I have a different taste and treat my body differently, doesn't make me a hater.

Maybe because a bunch of folks have said over and over and over again how trashy they are? I'm going with that. Also, FTFY

They are nasty. On a really sexy skinny woman, MAYBE get one below the panty line.

Trust me, most people with tattoos--self included--are not getting them because of how "pretty" they look or will look on "aging stretched out skin." The obsession with beauty and signals of SES can be left to the many unhappy PPs commenting here.

Please don't think I am being nasty here, I truly just am curious-can you explain why you get a tattoo, then? I'm one of those that doesn't understand the appeal.

I'm a professional woman w/ a tattoo of a cartoon character on my ankle. I got it when I was 29 - very intentionally, totally sober, and something i had always wanted to do.

I'm 50 now and I still love it. I will get the color re-inked in a few years.

Cartoon character?

yes, they look sleazy on men and women. Think of what you will look like withered up with that silly tattoo on your thigh in the nursing home.

0 and yes.
They're the classic example of short-term thinking. What looks hot at 25 is not at 55. I might get a very small one to commemorate some huge personal event, like surviving cancer, but otherwise, just no.

As if I'd care by then....

Which profession are you in, exactly?

Right, this is key. People who actually think and care about their tattoos (as opposed to people who pick something off the wall as a youthful impulse, regret it, and never get another one) are probably the people who continue not caring what people think about their bodies as they age.
