Depends on their height of course. |
NP here. Please don't say you are disgusting. What you are describing is being a very normal woman! Your body gave birth to children and now you are over 40. Please cut yourself some slack. If you need/want to amp up the working out/activity, that's great. But please don't down talk yourself even in an anonymous forum! I'm sure those close to you and your children would say your weight/size is the very last thing they think of when they think of you. I'm also sure that those folks would never use the word disgusting to describe you. Please, let's all be kind to ourselves. |
Someone posted upthread about H&M- I am a size 6 in Ann Taylor, blah blah brands (5-5 and 135 lbs) - but a size 10 or 12 in H&M slim pants, etc. H&M sizing is a bitch for the ego! |
And the size and density of their bones, and the size of their breasts, and the proportion of muscle to fat. We're not all the same. |
And some women abuse laxatives and vomit their food up to stay slim...or just don't eat. Being a size 2 does not automatically mean that a woman is taking care of herself. It means that she's a size 2. |
I like this too. It's a good way to look at it. |
I'm a size 12. I could lose 15 pounds, but I'm attractive at my current weight. Eh. |
I don't think anyone is claiming that people who are size 2 are necessarily taking care themselves. But your post and the timing of it implies that you think that women who want to lose weight (and be the best version of themselves) are "women who don't love themselves." And I disagree with that sentiment. True, some women do it in an unhealthy way and abuse laxatives or vomit up food. A woman that does that is a narcissist who only loves the appearance of healthy and beauty and not the actual substance of it. That woman isn't loving her body. But neither is a woman that sits on the couch eating doritos in between meals of processed foods. |
If I was a size 12 I would be skin and bones only. Am 5'10" and have large shoulders and hip bones. I weighed 120 and only fit into a size 14. |
I have so much fat. Is that better? |
Yes. The average American woman may be a size 14, but that's because the average American woman is fat. |
Absolutely not true. Many years ago (like, Marilyn Monroe's time), the sizing charts started at a 6 (or maybe it was 8) - so women in those days who said they were a 6 or 8 were really like a 2 or 4 in conventional, modern sizes. That does not mean that a 12 today is really a 16 or 18. Research it. |
No, depends on their build, but at size 12 I am overweight, at 5'6". If I wore a 12 and was all muscle would I still be "fat?" |
No, a woman (or man, for that matter) who does this has a serious illness that he or she likely developed largely due to genetics. |
i am chubby at a size 8 (as in I have a roll around my middle). I would be heavy at a 12.
I'm 5'6". That said, I know many beautiful, sexy women who are significantly heavier than I am. When I feel down about myself and my weight (which I do a lot) I think about how fabulous they are and how a positive attitude and kindness are what make a person truly appealing. |
