how many of us did not see close MAGA family members this holiday season?

I’ve steered clear of voting Trump or MAGA, but the vile coming out of the party I’ve supported makes my stomach churn too. I wish the Dems would snap out of it but I think they’re happy with whatever drug they’re taking.

You aren’t maga, you are just Nazi adjacent.

As soon as you resort to N-word #2, you confirm that you have no logical evidence, & lose the argument.

Haha, sorry, no one has to pay attention to your made up rules.

I HAVE MADE UP SOME WORDS AND DECLARED THEM TO BE TRUE, AND THEN I VERY IRONICALLY MADE A REFERENCE TO LOGIC!

In addition to being an awful person, you aren’t very sharp.

If you can’t tease out how making excuses for people that voted for MAGA is Nazi adjacent you aren’t even a good troll. The next step for you should be to admit it and just say that being a fascist or pedophile isn’t that bad. I think that this is the Trump order of operation.

People have such a sense of righteousness - oh I am so great because I hate Trump and oh you are a pos because you voted Trump. They do not have the sense to say it’s ok to agree to disagree.

One cannot have so much hate and that’s for both sides.

I voted on one issue - close the border. Are there any border crossings now? But my blue family members and friends screamed at me with fire coming out their ears. A close friend completely cut off from me. People are so extreme and unstable. They have love messages outside their homes but are so intolerant of a voting choice and generalize all who voted for Trump as evil

Hold them follow through to those messages of love to prove that they are the better person.

We are living two different realities and it’s very stressful. We got this far as civilized humans by cooperating and being in social networks, and so when you are talking to someone who has a completely different reality than you, it is very disconcerting and psychologically damaging. talking to relatives who think Covid was a hoax and then it wasn’t even a real condition and it was just a way to get Biden elected, talking to people who have facts totally wrong about immigration or how many women are getting late term abortions, or how many women are murdering their babies after they’re born and it’s legal, it’s not right.

It’s also psychologically damaging to talk to people who seem to have no empathy and are OK with people being randomly deported or killed.

It’s not just a matter of politics or different policy opinions. It’s different realities and world views.

Thats ok we still love you and want to see you during the holidays.

In this house we believe:
Love is Love (without conditions).

You've had to make your point ad nauseam because the love is love saying does not mean that you will suffer abuse. It means that you welcome those who are persecuted for their race, religion, status, etc.

Of course this needs to be explained to you. It's a bit ironic since MAGA is the antipathy of love, kindness, or compassion.

In this house we believe:

Black lives matter (unless they voted for trump)
Science is real (unless it supports trump)
No human is illegal (unless they would vote for trump)
Women's rights are human rights (unless they used that right to vote for trump)
Love is love (unless they voted for trump)
Kindness is everything (unless the person voted for trump)

Tell me MAGA are stupid without telling me. So you're for illegals who vote for Trump?! I can't with the stupidity.

So if your husband hits you, you have to love him and take it?
So if your parent verbally abuses you, you have to just love them and take it?

Nah, dog. You crazy.

You are the epitome of a stupid one-issue voter who had no sense how the world actually works and that there are far more important things than your bizarro conspiracy theories. Like voting for a lying, corrupt, grifter who will destroy our democracy every chance he gets.

You suck. People like you flushed this country right down the toilet with your vote.

You can't be so gullible to believe there are no border crossings now. Wow.

Where's the kindness?
Where's the compassion for those who made bad choices in life?
Where's the empathy?

We did not call them or see them this holiday season for the first time in my 51 years. My brother was the same.

Anyone else? I pretend to not care but it's just awful.

Your choice to not see them is awful. They could die at any time, and you're allowing Trump and politics to keep you from seeing your aging parents. I can't stand Trump either, but I would never refuse to be with my parents.

Found the Nazi supporter.

Her parents CHOSE Trump over their kids. They CHOSE to endorse making the country a far worse place for their grandkids.

They made their bed.

My father flipped out when I had rude things to say about (not Grennell, but someone like him that I’m glad I can’t remember right now). Eric Prince? No. I’ll remember later.

My mil had the audacity to say “You’re watching that show trial?” to me when I said, “today I was watching the January 6th hearings.” She asked me what I had done that day. She was basically an adult(!) in utter denial that anything happened that day.

It’s maga who is extremely negative and emotional. I never would talk to them the way they talked to me. If she mentioned she had watched x y or z (like whatever show, “10000 mules”) I would have moved on in the conversation. Why is my dad so bent on defending someone who does NOT care about him? And then I’m right here in front of him, caring about him, and he’s all mad at me.

This x infinity

If Trump started a vicious lying bullying campaign against one of their own kids, my parents would take his side. Reject the evidence of your eyes and ears, indeed.

It’s a cult.

At least with my family there were all sorts of signs before they embraced MAGA: using the N word, hating all minorities, hating all immigrants (not just undocumented) etc etc.
