So many atheists here - why do you care?

That sounds really nice -- and honest-- and a good reason to believe. You don't care if it's real, as long as it makes you feel good.

Sounds like the way some people feel about certain foods - they don't care if they know that it makes them fat and isn't good for them, as long as they enjoy it.

It's an ok attitude as long as you don't tell people who feel differently about food that they are going to hell for eternity.

or that you shouldn't engage in a conversation about food with them because your opinions differ.

But it's OK to do online.

Yes, because it's easier to be candid.

What happens when we get an atheist president and they try to make everyone stop believing in anything you can't prove.

Society and science make great leaps forward for the betterment of all.

People look back on religions they same way we look back on Greek tragedies, Shakespeare, or Roman mythology

Not really - if someone is lying right to my face I don't have to take it. It's a random anonymous forum - don't take this for truth/reality. Be happy you're exposed to some real opinions that are likely quite different from your daily inner circle.

Oh FFS. You are the worst. Get over yourself. Vomit. Puke. blah blah blah inner circle blah blah blah.

From what I've witnessed on this board they're generally an angry miserable bunch. I think while they don't know it or even realize it they might be driven by the devil to pull people away from God. They might be being used.

Think about this: when on these boards have you seen believers trying to covert atheists into believing in God? When have you seen them pushed, shamed and antagonized for not believing in God? Never. Why is that? Does that seem strange to you? It's one way. Ask yourself why is it one way? Food for thought.

+1M Atheists are indeed very angry and combative to try and "prove" the religious people wrong on here. Things that make you go hmmmm.

You can take as many personal shots as you like. I don't think any atheists here are angry, except maybe about one thing:

How you believers often won't answer simple questions.

I am not saying your beliefs are wrong. I am asking how you justify them since there seems to be no significant evidence for them. If you take that as "trying" to "prove you wrong", well, that's your issue. This is a discussion forum, after all, and if you're not prepared to discuss things, maybe you should not participate in discussion?

I would encourage you to grow up and if you are going to engage be prepared to explain your religious beliefs the same way you might with someone who disagreed with you on any other topic on DCUM. Gardening, colleges, investing, health, and yes, politics.

Talking to people like you is a waste of time. Telling people (insulting) people telling them to grow up all the while not understanding the basic concept of faith is ridiculous. Perhaps it's you that needs to "grow up" and find other things like gardening, colleges, investing, health to discuss with others in a non-combative manner. Your position as it stands, is lame.

Quoted poster has a point. Believers often won't answer simple questions.

When I had "faith", my answer to questions about it was based on my faith. "I have faith" was answer enough. Don't recall learning that, but maybe I did.

Believers can be very arrogant and are taught to feel superior to and sorry for people who don't have faith. Thus, it can come as a shock when faithless people, like the ones on this forum, don't want to be pitied or to learn how to believe.

We already have an atheist president and he panders to the religious right because he knows they're dumb enough to follow him.

Trump is NOT an atheist.

https://www.cnn.com/2015/07/18/politics/trump-has-never-sought-forgiveness/index.html
“People are so shocked when they find … out I am Protestant. I am Presbyterian. And I go to church and I love God and I love my church”

“When I drink my little wine – which is about the only wine I drink – and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed,” he said. “I think in terms of ‘let’s go on and let’s make it right.’”

At his second inauguration:
https://www.whitehouse.gov/remarks/2025/01/the-inaugural-address/
“But I felt then and believe even more so now that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again.”

This past week:
https://apnews.com/article/trump-texas-floods-fema-phase-out-b77d9681d2d39f8c201351b54ecf944f
“ “They were there because they loved God. And, as we grieve this unthinkable tragedy, we take comfort in the knowledge that God has welcomed those little beautiful girls into his comforting arms in heaven,” Trump said.”

DP I would consider that as a compliment, remaining true to the faith of Jesus.

So you prefer a world of 2,000 years ago where disease runs rampant, life expectancy is short, men are totally dominant over women (and very misogynistic), LGBTQ+ rights are non-existent, society was subject to the whims of competing kings, etc., etc., etc.

But, you want to continue to be blindly led as a sheeple by your shepherd for "faith"
