This thread is proof positive of one thing. People, regardless of religious belief or lack thereof, are terrible to each other. We really suck. |
Why should someone care about something that for a fact does not exist? |
Quoted poster has a point. Believers often won't answer simple questions. |

Different question. PP was talking about believing in something, then caring or not whether it exists. |
Not really - if someone is lying right to my face I don't have to take it. It's a random anonymous forum - don't take this for truth/reality. Be happy you're exposed to some real opinions that are likely quite different from your daily inner circle. |
I believe because I like the effect that has on my life and emotions. If what I believe in doesn't exist that doesn't change the reason.
Buddhists meditate. They are not deists but have a core set of beliefs. Do atheists have an issue with that, too? |
do they believe that they will have an afterlife? I have no problem with meditation. |

Yes, if they make claims about spirits, realms and reincarnation and other supernatural phenomena, and more importantly, if they were to try and legislate based on their mythology like our current speaker. |
That sounds really nice -- and honest-- and a good reason to believe. You don't care if it's real, as long as it makes you feel good. Sounds like the way some people feel about certain foods - they don't care if they know that it makes them fat and isn't good for them, as long as they enjoy it. It's an ok attitude as long as you don't tell people who feel differently about food that they are going to hell for eternity. |
or that you shouldn't engage in a conversation about food with them because your opinions differ. |
But it's OK to do online. |
They believe in Karma and reincarnation. On earth. |
