Are people canceling summer vacations or not really that concerned yet?

So we might as well go on vacation.

We were planning to go to Europe for spring break but hadn’t purchased airfare or made any non-refundable plans yet (though we had done an extensive amount of planning). We decide to cancel both to save money and because I would feel uncomfortable as an American abroad right now.

How would everyone know you’re American? Are you wearing American flag clothing? People always seem to worry about this, but in my experience no one can tell where you’re from. We were just in Switzerland and were mistaken for other nationalities multiple times.

+1. I’m also wondering this. We are often mistaken for other nationalities. And if people find out we are from the U.S., they’ve been fine. I’m curious how all these scared people actually behave when they are outside the U.S.

What?

Husband is a fed and still working for now. I work for a corporation. 2 kids. We are going to an island for summer vacation bc we were planning it back in Dec. Because we just paid for an expensive home project AND because of the uncertainty right now we are doing a cheap, local Spring Break trip for a few days. Besides summer vacation, putting the rest of our money into savings and cutting costs where we can.

If everyone does this, they create the recession...

No, Trump and Friends create the recession.

No, this just shows how little people understand economics.

U.S. economy was due a downswing, regardless of who won the past presidential election. Policies being put in place currently. have real chance of taking things from bad to worse.

Outside of all the politics, there’s a lot to see and do in Moscow and the surrounding area. Russian food is pretty good too.

Pass.

Remember Mark Fogel, American school teacher, who was arrested in Russia for medical marijuana and spent 5 years in jail?

Remember how he was recently released thanks to whatever negotiations they did, flown to US and put into this big press conference where he was kissing Trump’s ass?

Well, the next day Russia arrested another American citizen.

I’m not investing into Trump’s economy. I may go to Canada by Canadian Air.

Lobbying firms are thrilled. Nothing drives business like greed and fear. But fear works best.

Musk is terrorizing the workers and trump is terrorizing businesses. A cornered dog is unpredictable. Who knows what is going to happen next.

I think Trump is taking us down for the hard landing that Biden tried to avoid. Brace for it.

lol Loudoun thinks it’s the richest county, but only because you when no poor people. Take most of you to North Arlington , and you’d be living in a tear down.

So? How does that contradict anything I said?

Yes, Biden/the Fed actually were sticking the "soft landing." Trump and Elon seem determined to drive us into the ground. There was nothing predetermined or unavoidable about this looming recession.

Big recession heading your way in a few weeks. Either enjoy your last vacation, or stock up on basic goods...

I'm not a big fan of beets.

That’s fine, enjoy your 47th trip to Bethany.

Russia or Bethany are the only options?

Obviously!

That's terrible. Who did they arrest, and what led the American into Russian territory? I'd never set foot in their country.

Nah. Trump caused it by firing people and traumatizing people.

If you let a looney toon threaten to fire people who don't send you five bullet points, you're destroying the economy.

If you fire the bird flu experts causing a 15% increase in egg prices, you're destroying the economy.
