ClueLess 2029 parents:
What you are failing to appreciate and recognize is that the equal playtime formula is why Capital has such success with recruiting for their BLUE teams. It is that unqiue factor coupled with skilled players, lax IQ and excellent grades that contribute to Capital’s success in their recruiting year after year. D1 Coaches know any team in the top 20 has excellent players and a skilled goalie with many games being won or lost by a few points or less. We had several D1 coaches during visits tell my DD that they do not even pay attention to the score or RANKINGS!
Problem with this is you have to be in the top 20. Capital's going to find themselves in the 2nd or more likely 3rd brackets. And coaches won't be there to see how it's going.

These tiers are not exact science, they don't put 1-5 in bracket A 6-10 bracket B, etc.

Its a lot of the club reputation too. Capital going to get into that B or C bracket based on reputation.
They're in the 20's, including one in the mid 20's. This is new ground. They're not getting placed above teams 5 and 10 spots ahead of them because of previous year's teams. They'd better hope for a hot start to 2025.

The reality is other areas in the country have picked up lacrosse. Many of these kids are working harder and have better coaching and training than what you'll find in the DMV. The DMV needs to wake up and get going.

Good lax training in the DMV is nonexistent. We have to drive to Baltimore area for decent training.

My kid's team played Capital 27 in the fall, I can tell you plenty of top D1 coaches were watching.

Rankings are an indication of how good a team is. College coaches however are recruiting players not teams. So if you have a couple standout kids but are ranked #100, those kids can still get recruited. If the team is ranked higher (Say #5) you will see a higher volume of girls get recruited and to better lacrosse schools. Point being, there is a correlation between rankings and recruiting success.

That is why I said teams in the top 20. There will always be outlier players on low or mid ranked teams going high D1.
Coaches watching players and teams in top 20 are not focused on the score or the ranking within the top 20 because many games are won or lost on small goal differentials especially in the top 15 list. Plus, coaches know some teams like Capital use equal playtime not focusing on winning at all costs but allowing opportunities for players to be seen and recruited. Also, this past fall several teams including Capital had injuries, impact players injured --so expect Capital to be back in top 5-10 with injured players returning.

Exactly! Capital 2026 parent here. Capital is amazing opportunity, excellent coaches! The player must do their part going to specific schools camps, high GRADES, and training off season. The Team stays in the top 20 = amazing recruiting success! If your kid makes Capital Blue do not pass that opportunity up! It is about as much of a guarantee as you can get in D1 lax recruiting.

You referring to the 2027s? Too big of a hole to get close to top-10 for this year.

The dirty secret is, some teams don't do equal PT, others, like Capital do.

Those were well inside top 10 teams, even inside top 5 for one. Not what Capital has been trotting out there the last couple years.

You have Florida Select & Eagle Stix pulling kids from 2 hour radius, Long Island YJ, Jesters with 8 million people in their area, it’s just very competitive in Club lax in 2025, much more so than in 2010s

Capital 2027’s played in the 2nd bracket out of 28 at President’s Cup (the largest recruiting tournament of the fall) against top programs like Heros and Eagle Stix. And played them well. Lots of college coaches watching those teams. M&D Shore (now part of the “M&D recruiting machine” was in the 27th bracket out of 28. And that is a pretty good team. I think Capital is doing ok.

Curious if you happen to know which bracket Cap Orange played in. Not trying to be snarky, genuinely trying to gather info if Cap Orange is similar in competition to other local teams. Taking a Cap Blue offer is a no brainer, I think everyone who gets one will happily accept. I’m on the fence if Cap Orange is worth switching from a club where my daughter is happy and valued.

That was before they dropped in the rankings.

We’ve got it. You’ve made your point ten times. They also were up on Hero’s Green most of the game and lost a close game at the end. You can talk about the rankings all you want but the college coaches don’t actually care what you think and neither do the rest of us.

Capital Orange parent here and the only teams I would put above Orange would be Capital Blue, Heros Green and M&D Black. We beat M&D Red multiple times, have many girls committed to excellent schools. Not sure what your current club is but unless it is listed above I would take Orange in a heartbeat.
