She was 5’1”. Her pants are short. They were just her pants from the 23rd. Yes, there was probably a woman walking a dog with black pants on. |
Supposed eyewitnesses are the worst which is why real innocent people get wrongly accused. Someone is randomly chosen from a lineup by a witness who swears that’s the guy and a life is ruined. That’s not remotely what happened here. |
Laci in the photos and videos that show her briefly reminds me of a couple of HS friends I had. She seems like an optimist, a joyful person, a force of nature and full of life.
I just wanted to say this because everyone is focused on the perpetrator of the crime here, and she was clearly a wonderful human being. |
There were 2 pairs of beige pants. Amy couldn’t say for sure the ones Laci was found in were the same from the last time she saw her. They found another pair in the closet. |
How did Scott correctly guess lemon meringue was made on the Martha Stewart show on the morning of the 24th? On their home computer, someone logged in at 8:45am and went to yahoo! shopping to look up a red scarf and sunflower umbrella stand. Scott did all this? |
Martha Stewart’s show was on in Modesto at 9:30am. Scott was at work 10 mins away at his warehouse by 10:30am.
He said when he left Laci, she was watching her favorite show, Martha Stewart and he remembers seeing cookies and meringue which means he saw a significant portion of the show. That tracks with going to work at that time before 10:30am. There’s no window here where he could’ve killed her. There was a recipe on the kitchen counter for the cookies Laci wanted to make, and a curling iron in the bathroom that the housekeeper said wasn’t there on the 23rd. Laci’s sister Amy reported cutting Scott’s hair at her salon on the 23rd and showing Laci how to fun flip her hair with an iron. Scott testified Laci went home that evening and morning and was trying to flip her hair the same way Amy taught her. Amy also reported Scott invited her out to pizza on the evening of the 23rd after work but she declined. Laci and Scott ordered pizza and that’s what Scott ate when he came back from work and fishing on the 24th. The detectives reported all the things Scott mentioned (pizza box, curling iron, Lacis cereal bowl, Martha Stewart episode) were true including the brand of cereal Laci ate. Scott reported Laci woke up and ate as soon as she woke up to avoid morning sickness and Laci’s mother even testified this was true. If cereal was found, a curling iron, and Internet search and cable search verified Laci was alive on the morning of the 24th until 10am, why did the cops and prosecutor say she died on the night of the 23rd or early on the 24th? |
Scott also told the cops they wouldn’t leave a mop bucket out overnight because they wouldn’t want their cat or dog to drink from it. Scott filled the bucket for Laci in the morning while she was watching the show. She wanted to mop the floor after baking which makes sense if you consider how much of a mess flour makes. The prosecution made Scott filling up a bucket seem sinister.
I really think he’s an unlucky guy due to the lies he told with Amber and the circumstances of that day (fishing, mop bucket). People can’t see past those three things (Amber, fishing trip, mop and bucket at the house when cops arrive) |
It would be building his alibi. |
Why wouldn’t he bury her at night when no one is outside if he killed her on the 23rd? Why would he wait till broad daylight hours the next day in front of plain view of his neighbors and other fishermen to dispose of a body? An 8 month pregnant woman isn’t staying in the same pants as soon as she enters the house. She’s changing into something more comfortable. Scott reported she wore his pajama bottoms to bed and cops reported they were found at the top of the hamper in the house that evening. Laci planned on laundry day that evening according to Scott so Scott washing clothes that afternoon after going fishing in the marina isn’t unusual |
Because anyone could use the home computer. Scott said he left at 930 the meringue discussion started at 945 on the Martha show so how did Scott see it? He lied, simple as that. |
Would it also build his alibi to leave a mop and bucket in the kitchen, tell cops he went fishing and washed clothes that day? Scott wasn’t building any alibi. He was telling the truth about the day, but he didn’t know his actions and his calm demeanor worked against him. Scott said he was thinking by staying calm and acting friendly and giving cops water he’d be helping them take / investigate Laci’s disappearance more seriously. He miscalculated. He kept hearing from witnesses that they saw Laci walking the dog and arguing with burglars. Scott kept pushing the cops about the burglars but the cops cleared them by polygraph supposedly very early on. |
The cops really became pissed off when Scott’s dad attempted to hire his own private investigators to investigate the burglary. That set off Modesto PD even more |
The dad was also the one who told Scott not to take the lie detector test. Why? |
Oh well. Scott could have cleared himself by polygraph but refused. Guilty is as guilty does. |
Scott said he left at 9:30 to place umbrellas in his truck to take to his warehouse. He saw the neighbor and said hello. He popped back in and filled a bucket for Laci and watched some of the show with her before heading to work. He remembered 2 segments: cookies and meringue. Cookies and meringue were mentioned on Martha Stewart on December 24th at 9:48am. What time did he have to strangle Laci to death and bring her outside to the truck? (they had no garage) How could he do this without anyone seeing? Someone saw him load umbrellas on his pick up truck a few moments earlier. Did the cops ever test these umbrellas for any hairs of Laci? The bed of a pick up truck is open which also should have been common sense to the cops and jury. He drove 2 1/2 hours to the SF Bay with a dead body just laying there in blue tarp? |
