Why are Christians insisting the opening ceremony depicted The Last Supper when it really was the Feast of Dyonisus?

I was really surprised NBC didn't realize how "knowledge challenged" Americans are, and provide actual useful commentary about what was going on.

High level people in both France and Italy denounced the pageantry. This is not just an American thing.

As I have repeated several times and with links. But they have tunnel vision.

Sorry, I can't get that worked up over what happens in another country, unless it's something like invading other borders or massacre of the population. This is just entertainment, not something life or death. I can't believe your feelings are so fragile as to get foam-mouthed about it.

Exactly. Many of you won’t be laughing on November 6th.

Please explain what Donald Trump or Kamala Harris have to do with a Renaissance-era painting staged as a scene in an opening ceremony in France.
Have you ever been to Paris?

Really? You can say that about so many other actions that are offensive to others and people go nuts. This was internally done to cause trouble and it’s very cruel to so many people you don’t know and don’t care about.

Please explain how anything in this opening ceremony was "cruel". Perhaps if you find these actions "cruel", you'd be shocked at how awful Christians have treated the LGBTQ+ community.

The French don't care what we think.

The Bible says to stop lying. So stop trying to claim it's the Last Supper. That's a lie.

It’s not a lie. You are the one that’s lying or don’t want to believe they lied to you. They used the Greek painting as a cover for plausible deniability and now that they’re receiving backlash from the worlds religious communities but the producers literally named it Last Supper on the Seine and said it references Da Vincis Last Supper.

Why lie? Just admit it

That's false. The Olympic Committee livetweeted that it was a festival of Dionysus and the directors and producers said it was a Dionysian Bacchanal.

When you've been proven to be lying calling it the Last Supper when it's not, then nobody cares about your lie anymore other than that you're a liar.

That would be NBC, an American company, losing ratings and ad money. Buy America Indeed.

Are you saying NBC designed the Olympic opening ceremonies.

France will lose ratings. I'm sure they're devastated. Maybe you can speak to their manager.

It's fine to denounce the pageantry, problem is the evangelicals here don't even understand what they are trying to denounce.

If NBC had done a better job of explaining what was going on, realizing most Americans know very little about Greek or French history or the origin of the Olympics, it would have helped the evangelicals understand this wasn't a depiction of the last supper.

Exactly. It's ignorance of Greek mythology on display, and the forced "Christian persecution" angle is pure cringe.

I've never seen a Last Supper with Dionysus on a platter in the middle of it, and 20-someodd Disciples. As a Christian and as someone who didn't sleep in class when they went over Greek mythology in like 7th grade, I would never be so confused as to think it was somehow supposed to be a depiction of the Last Supper.

Everyone should protest by buying very expensive bottles of French wine and giving them to me. I’ll make sure they’re disposed of.

The organizers and participants said it was inspired by Da Vincis Last Supper

These are peddlers of confusion we are talking about . Of course for plausible deniability it had elements of Greek mythology so that they can plausibly deny the blasphemy accusations afterward but those that are not deaf, dumb, or blind know the truth

Right wing social media accounts claimed the organizers and participants said it was inspired by Da Vinci's Last Supper.

Fixed it for you. I've never seen a Last Supper featuring Dionysus and 20+ Apostles.
