| On that note, technically all AAP and advanced math 5th graders ought to have their grade level set to 6th grade for iready math, since they are taking 6th grade math. Not all FCPS schools do this. |
This is not even remotely true! The opposition was bipartisan and in NOVA, I can promise you it was mostly liberal democrats sounding the alarm against VMPI. PP is the person who is “astroturfing” here, and lying about what happened. She is another “social justice warrior” and equity-cultist who believes in lying to get her way, following the old adage “the ends justify the means.” She follows the same philosophy as the radical NYC mayor, and now many in Washington state, who have literally banned / eliminated all G&T / accelerated-learning programs in public school in those jurisdictions (google it). It is laughable she is still lying about VMPI and ridiculously trying to blame maga! or Rs, when the fact is reasonable democrats are standing up to extremists like her. She is a troll who aught to be ignored or even banned from posting her lies on DCUM. |
wouldnt want to miss that kind of a cage fight

The iReady chart breaks out columns as grades K-12. The rows are percentile based on score. The test is adaptive so kids in lower grades will get progressively harder questions. Higher scores indicate that the child was correctly answering higher grade level material. I am not certain of this but I believe the answers are multiple choice so there is a chance that the child guesses correctly on some of those, which is why there are additional assessments given by the school before moving a child ahead. You can see where your child's score would place them in higher grade levels by looking their score up in the older columns. Again, it is not the best measure but it is there. |
1)This was MAGA panic for votes. 2)It is on elected officials to overturn VADOE's radical proposals. |
Yet the result was seen in Loudoun. First step was to eliminate 6th grade algebra and severely reduce 7th grade algebra. This was reversed after Youngkin's election with curriculum staff saying it was warranted with the elimination of VMPI. It appears this person was in a higher position than the one who wants to eliminate tracking. |
The operator of this blog agrees with this same equity push, and deleted the original thread discussing VMPI, saying it had a false title of seeking to eliminate advanced math. Had VMPI been implemented, the number of students taking calculus in high school would have gone way down. |
They did. Youngkin got elected on this. The VMPI booster waited too long to tell bosses they needed to back off. Instead was on here saying lots of states like Alabama are doing this and people need to get on board. By the way. Ian Serotkin the school board member who alerted the public, is a Democrat. |
That is truly sad and disappointing. |
The post is about equitable access to advanced math. This is what VMPI and similar proposals around the country are aboiut. OP is going the other way and saying minorities need to be placed in even more advanced classes, while most equity proposals involve reducing access for everyone. One of the links on VMPI's website, ""Eliminate tracking systems that sort children based on perceived ability and demographic profile." Therefore, the goal of detracking will not be realized without working to dismantle the various social, political, and cultural reasons tracking persists. Those that have been privileged by the current system must be willing to give up that privilege for more equitable schooling." |
| Whatever you all do, let's make sure URM kids get to take advanced math. Currently equity wing nut jobs (EWNJs) want URM kids to play victims and keep pushing remedial math crap onto all of them, including advanced URM kids. |
Oops. It's actually more than 6. This tool shows all of the schools that have had a 6th grader take the Algebra I SOL. Scroll to the bottom to see the results. https://p1pe.doe.virginia.gov/apex/f?p=152:1:6962235569602:SHOW_REPORT:::: If your kid attends one of the listed schools, then your school participates in the FCPS 6th grade Algebra path. If it isn't listed, then either they haven't had a single student from 2018-2023 meet the criteria, or the school doesn't participate. |
You seem detached from reality and triggered by the truth. |
Bullcrap. They are pushing to have more URM kids take advanced/accelerated classes. |
The original thread was wrong. They were never proposing to ban advanced math. He probably deleted it because it was crap. |
