How does that relate to Hunter's plea deal?

Because the entire hunter story is the GOPs attempt to distract from the fact that their candidate is a criminal.

They had a duty to speak up and protect their client by speaking up. Failure to speak up and protect HB would be a serious violation of the Rules of the Professional Conduct for the DC, MD and VA or wherever those attorneys are licenses.

Fraud on the court may be a problem but this violation is also a problem.

The plot thickens.

Well republicans are threatening and intimidating the judge, DOJ and Weiss to impose abnormal harsh sentence on Biden. They will use these same tactics to Trump has no punishment for his crimes.

I thought Hunter was getting no jail time sweetheart deal with broad immunity?

What part do you find distracting: his drug use, the money transfer or his failure to pay taxes? None of that distract me.

That is a good defense line. Why do you think his attorney did not go with that?

Because he was perfectly aware what he and the prosecutor are doing and hoped that everything will be kept quiet. If he would dare to open his mouth and put on record what you suggest him to say, he will be damaging his client's case. That is why they entered a not-guilty plea and quietly retreated.

So, according to the transcript, Hunter is still has a license and in good standing in the DC bar. Are there any DC-barred attorneys here? Is it really normal to be a drug addict and to continue holding an attorney license?

Then, the 'keeping quiet' of that fact in front of the Court/Judge is another separate 'fraud on the court' incident that will be a violation of the professional Conduct.

It seems both the defense and the prosecution thought they could pull something over on the court.

Fortunately, this judge was more astute than they gave her credit.

In the end, he will likely still get a plea deal that will be better than any Joe Schmo in his situation would get, but you can bet it won't include blanket immunity for his other crimes.

And, I don't trust Weiss to continue to investigate Hunter. Time for a special counsel.
Weiss has shown he is not capable of an unbiased prosecution.

DoJ attorneys come across as incompetent and dishonest as a result of this hearing.

Thanks for proving my point.

If drug usage were a disqualifier, then a whole lot more attorneys would have to be disbarred as well.
