I think high SAT scores are a predictor of future career success, but not necessarily college grades. |
+1 which is why MIT went back to requiring SAT scores. |
I'm very well aware of that, but you or a PP stated " The U.S. will never have one ethnicity in their schools". That is what I was responding to. The Asian community aren't out to make the schools homogeneous. You are indeed confused. |
And CalTech didn’t. So what. |
Sorry, the Supreme Court of the United States will block colleges from racial discrimination. |
I understand that after a certain threshold it's a lottery, but the Harvard case shows that they use discriminatory practices, much as they did back when they discriminated against Jews by using the same tactic. Do you think black people would be upset if they were given "high likelihood of committing a crime" on their application, especially since the AO never met them? |
CalTech with very small number of students is a special case, and it's the only school makes sense for no SAT score required. They require higher level of evidence than SAT. |
Right, if it was a true lottery then black admits wouldn't have SAT scores 400 points lower than asian admits 🤣 . These posters are too dumb to even comprehend the statistical meaning of a lottery process |
caltech is extremely not diverse, and they are trying to make it diverse, which is why they got rid of SAT scores. They knew if they kept SAT scores, the schools would continue to be not diverse. MIT is more diverse than Caltech. It could be due to location -- CA has more Asians than MA, and CA of course is huge. Also, Caltech is minuscule compared to MIT. |
400 points is actually not insignificant. Also, you didn't answer my question: Do you think black people would be upset if they were given "high likelihood of committing a crime" on their application, especially since the AO never met them? |
Can you elaborate? |
You didn't ask that question to me so I'm not sure why I would answer it. My Position is that black people are given a MAJOR leg up in admissions, as shown by the now public Harvard admissions data |
+1 SAT and testing scores will be a thing of the past soon. |
More details on the Nobel prize winner(s) who showed up at a high school student's house asking for help. Thanks! |
Also, there are far fewer blacks applying to college, so more are proportionally accepted. Not so with Asians. In addition, you have to be able to make a proper analysis to do well in college. |
