No one called for a boycott of businesses directly. There was a particular call out to the owner of Comet because like 3-4 days after he signed the petition, a freaking DC Bike Party with several hundred people rolled up to his bar and provided a crap ton of business to him. Pretty lame on his part. |
It is anti-bike fan fiction. Were his eyes turned upwards toward the heavens too the whole time, PP? |
This is a lie. |
No, it isn't. You can actually go on any social media platform for the DC Bike Party and note the date, and then look at the petition. |
+1 |
The funniest thing about this job is that it doesn't exist, and yet you keep repeating that it does. |
+1 They paid the executive director a total of about $110,000 in 2020 (last year the 990 is available for), and that was apparently the only paid employee then, so I guess the idea here is supposed to be that this fictional job is paid entirely out of a city contract and not disclosed on their tax forms? https://waba.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/2020-WABA-Form-990_PD-website.pdf |
Sorry, correcting this, they reported 24 employees, but none of them except the executive director make more than $100,000 a year, or they'd be listed. |
Do you not understand how government contracting works? WABA is charging DC government $180k per year for the Bike Ambassador. They don’t have to pay the Bike Ambassador $180k per year. They are paying less and pocketing the difference. |
WABA's contract with DC includes a sum for the Bike Ambassador PROGRAM. As you know. |
Maybe people who think this program is a boondoggle should stop talking about how "the Bike Ambassador" makes more money per hour than a doctor does, then. |
| Did you know the city is also hiring a full time team of people whose entire job is to clean bike lanes? Possibly even more silly than the bike ambassador |
Yes I never understood this one either. When you eliminate right turn in red turn cars are “competing” with pedestrians to turn right before the light turns red again. Better to turn right into a clear lane when the walk signal is red. |
It's better for pedestrians AND cyclists if cars aren't turning right on red, though. The cars aren't "competing" with pedestrians, because the pedestrians have right of way. |
When you eliminate right turn on red, pedestrians who are crossing the street on WALK don't get hit by drivers who are turning right on red. Does that help you understand? Meanwhile, there are Leading Pedestrian Intervals to help protect pedestrians from drivers who are turning right on green and don't want to stop for pedestrians who are trying to cross. |
