Are you aware that less than 4% of the city population bike commutes? You exist in a very narrow minority.

I am aware that both myself and my children would all commute by bike if there were a safe way to do so. And I live right off Conn Ave.

The metro used to move more people around the city in a day than bike lanes will in a decade and yet we let the subway rot and focus on building all these bike lanes that no one even uses

Also, isn't 4% like 28,000 people? Do you want 30,000 more cars on the street for your commute?

1. It is 4% of COMMUTERS. So more like less than 10,000 people and likely substantially lower.

2. Your math indicates that you believe DC has 700,000 residents which is disqualifying.

3. There is a thing called public transit, which a lot of people use.

And I believe that you would, for about four months out of the year and even then only when it is not raining.

Good. I pray the delay becomes permanent. Down with the chauvinist middle-aged white male spandex lobby!

It’s actually two percent of commuters. That four percent figure is an old pre pandemic census estimate from 2019. Census now says it’s just two percent.

A pre-pandemic estimate based on aspirational answers to a self-reported survey. For Connecticut Ave that number is less than 1%.

I saw a biker using the bike lanes on Old Georgetown Road once. I was like, what is that blinding, blinking light pointed directly at my eyes while I try to drive at night? Oh, it's the light on a bike being ridden in the wrong direction in the bike lane. But hey, bikers can do whatever the hell they want. Always have, always will.

Other than that one time, literally none.

There are bike lanes I have never seen anyone use, ever

The exurbs seem like a great place to ride a bike.

There are a lot of people who wouldn't be considered "commuters" who would use the bike lanes to bike from one neighborhood to another to shop, eat, etc. Those are not factored into the 4% commuter figure the anti's keep falsely citing.

You’re claiming all other major cities around the world have bike lanes on major roads? Interesting.
