African American whove been going to college for several generations or just lived NORTH or West, long out of the south and/or were financially successful were uniformly Republican until FDR started to appeal to the working class and then both parties started switching constituencies, there are a lot of old money AADS who are still republican in the same way that you have southern democrats.
