Just own up to the mistakes and make it right. You are setting a terrible example for your children.

The fact is that the school missed reporting 1 year (not 2 or even 3). The fact is that the school did own up to their mistake. Who is writing this stuff? Are you even paying attention?

You are not paying attention. What year are you alleging was the only one missed? HOW did GDS own up to their MISTAKES (yes, that is plural)? You are delusional and the prime example of privilege. It is showing.

I live in a world where when people discover they made a mistake and share that mistake with the public with multiple apologies when they learn of it, that means "owning up to their mistakes." It's the ANC that is delusional to think that they are owed anything else.

Yes, this. Also, I’d guess that there are at least some residents in this ANC who would like their kids to go to GDS in the next year or two…not to mention the many kids from neighboring ANCs who are applying. There are not enough private school seats for DC residents who want them, so why on earth would the ANC want to restrict those seats more over a failure to file a form. If I lived in this dude’s ANC I would be seriously disappointed that this is what he’s choosing to focus on.

Good point. At least some of the 50 families who will now get rejected by gds instead accepted will be from this ANC. He's screwing his constituents with this weird power trip by a powerless ANC.

GDS agreed to the enrollment cap with the city govt, not the ANC.

And no, no one is talking about enforcing existing parking restrictions against GDS and no one else.

Everyone should keep their promises and obey traffic laws.

I bet every first grader at GDS can tell you this isn’t that difficult.

How will it help GDS to now have a written record of 100+ disparaging comments on the ANC? I get they are anonymous but it is clear GDS parents are commenting quite a bit.

Stop the gaslighting.

Calling a spade a spade is never going to get someone in trouble.
ANC doesn’t like feedback on its theatrics, poor civil service, tone and how it misconducts meetings? It’s feedback.

Calling out poor verbal and slanderous behaviors, esp a pattern of behaviors is needed. I certainly like to see who my neighbors elected and what they are cognitively capable of. Or incapable of.

Defensive ANC guy is too busy sock puppeting 6+ times from 13:00-13:33 yesterday.

sock puppeting. look at you. How undignified using that kind of slang. did you have to look that one up in order to use it with this fast food, cheap real estate crowd.

What slang? “Sock puppeting”? Now you’re rewriting the dictionary too to try to make up new falsities?! Lol.

My husband I keep looking at the GDS map that outlines the off limit streets, and unless I’m insane, it looks like both sides of Wisconsin are fair game and you can do what you want. Maybe that’s not honoring what the spirit of the agreement is, but that’s sure as heck what the map looks like.

That's definitely a correct reading of the map. And it makes complete sense because there are no actual neighbors on the west side of Wisconsin. It's a super busy road, with a vacant lot, an abandoned car dealership, Steak and Eggs, and other fine dining options. But no neighbors.

The head of the ANC was not just mean-spirited, but simply wrong in vilifying GDS parents who are doing drop-offs and pick-ups on Wisconsin during the last ANC meeting. You would think that he would have reviewed the MOU before going off like he did. And I don't understand why GDS failed to correct the ANC on this point about Wisconsin Ave. in the meeting. Did no one--either from GDS or the ANC--review the MOU before this contentious meeting? Such poor preparation.
Yes, GDS was wrong to not have filed their report to the ANC--someone in GDS administration clearly dropped the ball there--and GDS should have notified the ANC and DDOT of the increased number of students due to unanticipated COVID yield. The excuse "but we were busy with COVID" was weak. But to actually malign GDS as encouraging families to "cheat" is almost slanderous. You would think that the other ANC commissioners, especially the one with the kid at GDS, would have tried to straighten the record and insert some objectivity into the conflict. What a terrible ANC meeting. Disappointing all around.

Totally agreed. The head of the ANC is exactly the type we know who take these roles. A small-ball lawyer with nothing better to do but to foot fault on some reg. this is the DC classic in every neighborhood commission, homeowners association etc.

Here is the video of the ANC meeting
https://vimeo.com/797699219

Here is the resolution passed against GDS
https://anc3e.org/wp-content/uploads/Draft-Resolution-Re-GDS-Violations-V4.pdf

This could have been resolved by a phone call to GDS. This guy instead chooses to call them out publicly.

I hope GDS keeps a copy of this video because the ANC isn’t going to leave this embarrassment up much longer.

Good point. They hosted, recorded and posted the zoom mtg here. Another example of excellent misjudgment.

The idea by the ANC that they can restrict drop offs or travel on that street is patently unlawful, both under D.C. and federal law. It is especially unlawful when one takes into account how many other vehicles are stopping on Wisconsin Avenue near GDS -- including, among other things, deliveries, ubers, taxis, and so on. The ANC is not trying to restrict any of those vehicle movements more than is already permitted under DC law, and they cannot do so here. Further, the school and its parents have a valid safety interest in dropping their kids near the school, if they cannot drop at the school itself. The ANC is not taking this safety interest into account at all. At bottom, if the ANC tries to impose -- or any other DC agency tries to impose - restrictions specific to GDS kids on Wisconsin Avenue, they will be sued immediately. The ANC is absolutely crazy, here, in terms of its treatment over all. But they most certainly are not going to restrict rights people have by law in their effort to go after the GDS community.

Get a clue.

Awesome that they spent 20 minute talking in circles during their 90+ min attack dog session on a busy 6 lane commercial district commuter road.

They want GDS to forfeit $4 million

For the umpteenth time...many (dare say most) ANC members run unopposed. Maybe GDS should find someone to run in the next election...but the job really stinks and is thankless, so they better be prepared for all the unpleasantries of the job.

So, are you sending an email to these ANC folks and signing your name to it?

first, you’re proposing that gds orchestrate a coup to install friendly commissioners, which is just on its face crazy. second, you want people to feel sympathy for these power tripping commissioners? they signed and ran. they did not have to. is it too much to ask for people to behave professionally?

Not a coup...just find someone to run in the next election. PP was impugning the people that voted for these ANC members...I was simply pointing out that they often run unopposed, so if they just vote for themselves they win. Literally, an ANC commissioner won in AU park with like 3 votes.

Kudos to the team from GDS (and the handful of ANC members) who demonstrated civility and professionalism during that freak show of a meeting...I commend them on their restraint and maturity.

For all the other folks who were in the meeting...you know, the PIW escapees who thought they were arguing a supreme court case on the planet of Naboo, we forgive you. We know that you only unraveled, went berserk and embarrassed yourselves (and your constituents) because you didn't have access to your meds. Hopefully you all are now safe and sound, and settled back into your respective units at the facility....please get well soon!

Wow. Using mental health issues to mock people is insensitive, to say the least.
