So some posters arguing these events don't count since they are not "gang" related? Like guns only kill when fired by gang members?? |
Those are two separate issues. I believe a few years ago a kid brought a gun to school in Clarksburg or Poolesville. No one assumed there that it was gang related. But some people insist that the incident at RM is gang related even though RPD has stated that it was not gang related. yes, guns in school are scary. No one disputes that. |
How come RM makes the news every week? Or (at least) feels like every week. Media is against RM maybe? |
They discussed the events at the RM PTA. I am actually pretty satisfied with their communication, at least. The boy was let in by another RM student Security saw it happening through the security camera (apparently RM has a ton of security cameras, as I'm sure a lot of schools do). Security met the boy and escorted him off campus with no issues. While security was escorting him, they noticed something suspicious in his bag - that part is vague, like how did they figure that out? Security called the CEO who called for RPD Security watched the boy walk away and was able to tell CEO/RPD where the boy was headed RPD got him within a few minutes with no issues. The boy was arrested and sent to a juvey facility. The legal system will take it from there. |
Bit of a hyperbole. RM had two incidents back to back, unrelated this past month. Prior to that, there were no other events in the past 3 to 4 years my kids have been there. There was a shelter in place due to events happening in RTC, not on the HS grounds but since RM is near RTC, out of an abundance of caution, they went into SIP, which is the right call. |

Are you done making up lies and insisting there aren’t gang-related incidents going with teens and within MCPS now? This is draining and pointless. |
What about the second incident? The robbery of the kids from Gaithersburg High School? What did the RM PTA meeting have to say about that? |
This is interesting. Why can't Security simply call the Rockville Police Department. Why this extra step? As an RM parent, I want the police on scene as quickly as possible. This kid seemed to just walk away, but if he was uncooperative, the quicker the police get there the better. |
Are you that stupid that you don't realize teenagers are doing drugs at every single high school in MOCO? |
it was in a Fanny pack. The shape of the gun was obvious. |
Agree, which is why SROs in school is better. They have a direct line to the police. Security guards do not. The RPD during the call stated exactly that.. that police will respond quicker when contacted through radio by another cop than security guard calling the CEO, then CEO contacting police. |
|
oh, you must have more inside knowledge. They didn't talk about that in the PTA call. Thanks. DH and I were curious about that. |
They never found a gun in that incident, so they didn't really talk too much about that case. |
DP, but the best you can do is finding an article from 2015? |
