Covid Status

There’s way more covid than what’s reported. My kids could have covid right now. Unless you’re screening testing every few days you really have no idea.

Good news! You can wear a mask for as long as you want. MCPS will not stop you. Your kid can double up with two KN95 masks if you so choose!

But there is no good reason to make masks mandatory again in public schools.

Of course there is. My kid shouldn't have to get COVID from your kid in order to go to school. One-way masking is better than nothing, but better than that is universal masking.

Only if all of those kids were also wearing high quality, well fitted masks like your kid surely is, right? But were they? Did you spend any time in school when there were mask mandates? Lots of cloth, surgical, ill-fitted KN95s. Those are pretty useless. So universal masking would not move the needle as much as you think. Keep on keeping on and make alternative arrangements for lunch if you haven't already.

This...... please. We need to be able to easily identify the brainwashed drones in our society. I especially get a kick out of seeing someone wearing a mask driving alone in their car.

When you see me wearing a mask in my car it's because I'm driving someone with a vulnerable immune system to a doctor appointment, which is something I do regularly now, because people like you are inconsiderate disease vectors.

Huh? What does you driving vulnerable people to the doctor have to do with the inconsiderate among us? Was the person who was driving them previously not masking up for the drive or something? Anyway, unless the people you are driving were lying down in the backseat so they wouldn't be seen, I don't think that's who PP was talking about. I do know of someone who wears a mask in the car in case they are in a car accident and knocked unconscious, or get pulled over by an LEO (cause you don't want to reach in your glove box to get a mask these days I suppose).

I know you don't understand, honey. That's because you've had COVID so much it's made you dumb. Poor thing, it's no longer your fault, I suppose. You don't have the mental capacity left to understand how to avoid disease.

Thank god it’s a schtick. I’d feel so bad for her and her family if she was serious.
It is pretty amusing, I’ll give her that.

MoCo (and MCPS) is stuck in a loop

Yes, it's called COVID-19 and it is currently surging. That's why campuses on the east coast are bringing back mask mandates. Google it.

I don't think you know what the word 'surge' means.

Case per 100k in MoCo:

5/24: 395
7/16: 264
10/7: 80

It means MCPS can't staff school bus routes because drivers are calling in sick.
It means special ed teachers are being pulled to act as subs and can't teach their students.
It means absences are creating stress on the system.
Hopefully you are awake enough to understand that these numbers no longer are up to date as home tests don't get reported.
The lack of staffing speaks for itself.

Covid is only one factor in why there are staffing issues. Mcps has thousands of job openings right now and there isn't enough subs. People don't just miss work because of covid, people must work for all kinds of reasons

Do you also make fun of people who wear sunscreen and seat belts because you know they're just scared of skin cancer or car accidents.

Daily sunscreen is recommended by just about every health entity and seatbelts are, you know, required. Universal masking us only recommended during times of high community levels due to stress on the hospitals. But do what you want bro, mask your kids forever!

https://newsofcanada.net/increasing-cases-of-variants-bq-1-and-xbb-could-render-covid-drugs-virtually-useless-study-finds/

BQ.1 AND BQ 1.1 SUMMARY:
"previous infections from BA.5 and antibody drugs, including Evusheld and Bebtelovimab, are not sufficient to prevent a BQ.1 infection."
"BQ.1 and BQ.1.1 are both spreading extremely fast in parts of Europe."
"the number of BQ.1.1 infections is doubling every week. That kind of exponential growth will ensure that the variant becomes globally dominant in the short term."

BA.2.75.2 SUMMARY:
“the most neutralization-resistant variant evaluated to date”
"spreading rapidly in Singapore, India and regions of Europe"

XBB SUMMARY:
"combines two different Omicron lines (BJ.1 and BM.1.1.1) to make something so good at evading immunity (from previous infections or vaccines) that it’s close to SARS-CoV-1"
“may trigger a significant immune system escape on a scale never seen before,”
"nearly at the level of the SARS-CoV-1 virus (then known simply as “SARS”) that caused an outbreak in 2003"
"could render the new vaccines relatively useless"

OVERALL:
“Such a rapid and simultaneous emergence of multiple variants with enormous growth benefits is unprecedented,”
“These results suggest that current herd immunity and BA.5 vaccine boosters may not provide broad enough protection against infection.”

VACCINE EFFECTIVENESS:
https://fortune.com/well/2022/10/15/covid-omicron-split-multiple-variants-peaking-different-countries-same-time-scenarios-fall-winter-pandemic-epiidemic-endemic-xbb/
"Singapore has one of the most highly vaccinated populations with 90% 2-shots and 78% boosters"
"this is different because now we have variants with extreme levels of immune evasion, and in any given country, potentially a few that could be in play at the same time."

If your child is 'taking a break from masking' just keep a close eye on the variants that hit this winter. There is also another variant without a lot of data yet that seems to have a few cases in the Northeast U.S., Zeta variant P.2. It is believed to re-infect people who have already had covid.

https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/covid-19-variant-data

Thankfully, none of these variants (aside from P.2) appear to be taking hold yet in the U.S. I saw a person comment that his computer projection said it would be Spring before the variants took hold in the U.S., but my gut says it will be January again. Just a guess, but I see way too many people not masked and comfortable in close proximity indoors. That's something a computer model may not take into account.

Whoops. I spoke too soon.

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/cdc-identifies-new-covid-variants-that-accounted-for-11-4-of-new-cases-in-week-ending-oct-15-11666021004

"BQ.1 and BQ.1.1 went from fewer than 1% of new cases to more than 10% in the space of a month"

"BQ.1 and a descendant called BQ.1.1 have gained traction in the U.S., accounting for 11.4% of new cases across the nation in the week ending Oct. 15."

"New York and New Jersey currently have the highest proportion of BQ.1 and BQ.1.1 infections, at about 20% of overall cases, according to CDC estimates."

Last few times it took a month or two for spikes in NY to be reflected in DC.

The anti-mask people are hateful and bitter. They wanted choice, but yet they can't let others live their own lives without making comments. You're not edgy, just really sad and pathetic.

All these posts sound like dawns been frequenting here. They are so angry and self-righteous. You lost.. not because of lies… because of who you are as a person. You keep showing your true colors and…. It somehow just keeps getting worse. Get better soon.

lol. Because if you actually read any of the citations you posted, you'd realize you're an idiot?

"However, most patients have a favorable prognosis"

Do they cause brain damage? How about interfere with circulatory system functions? Covid is a much different animal.
