Insurrection Hearings 6/9-6/23

Miller is saying the video was deceptively edited

Chinless Abortion Milkshake says what?

Seriously, though. The point is not that some 60 frivolous legal challenges would eventually be brought. It's that all of these people knew very well that Trump had lost, he was repeatedly told he had lost and he STILL went through with his January 6th rally.

Yes, because of DC’s strict gun laws. Proud Boy leader Enrique Tarrio had just been picked up by MPD on a gun charge. There are recorded discussions by Proud Boys saying they should stash their weapons nearby.

I wonder if Congress realizes that if DC had Virginia’s permissive gun laws, they’d be dead and we would have a dictatorship.

Right. Because a group of people DEMONSTRABLY FOLLOWING DC’s municipal firearms codes surely wouldn’t have thought twice about murdering the entire Congress if only they had valid concealed carry permits.

They weren’t aiming to murder the entire congress, just a few specific people. Pence, Pelosi, AOC (just for spite), Mitt, a bunch of other high ranking Democrats. I could spitball on how they planned to do it without guns, but I’m not a trained killer or anything.

Michael Fanone thinks they were trying to hold Congress hostage to keep it from certifying, because the Constitution requires it to be held on the 6th.

I still would like to know who Jim Acosta's source was for this tweet:

Laughing at “they weren’t trying to murder the entire congress, just a few specific people.” This is what we’ve become. Mass shootings … only 2 or 3 killed. Nothing to see there. Fanone has been an incredible info source and eyewitness from day one after the insurrection, while he was still recovering. Balliston boys had 30 days of food provisions including weapons and ammo. Canary’s have sung. There’s more to come.

Don’t Care!!

This is all so flipping tedious. Just an immense waste of time. Trump is an idiot, and a bigot, and 100 other things. I don’t give a sh$t anymore. He’s gone. He’s irrelevant and an embarrassment to all his sycophants now trying to distance themselves.

At the same time, this was not an “insurrection”. It was a protest by a bunch of idiot rednecks, really people who would deserve pity and empathy if they weren’t so obnoxious.

But you can’t have an insurrection with no guns, no bombs, no plan to overthrow the government, and no intent to seize power and rule. That didn’t exist. It was a bunch of dumbass theatre and I’m tired of otherwise reasonable and smart people pretending that the American Government was on the brink of collapsing. Such a bunch of hysterics. Get over yourselves.

There were guns and bombs. This thread is for people watching. You seem a little desperate.

If anyone is interested, this NYT documentary combined many sources along a time line and shows the terrorists attacked the Capitol from many sides, not just the two I had been thinking. Guns spotted among the crowd. Many shots of how large the insurrection was. It's 40 minutes long but stunning. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/30/us/jan-6-capitol-attack-takeaways.html

+1. The level of ignorance among the MAGA fanboys never ceases to amaze. What do they think would have happened if any of those jackasses actually came across Speaker Pelosi or any other sensible congressperson who hadn't drunk the Trump kool-aid? Do they think those morons would just wag their finger and scold? We should all shudder to think at what would have happened.

It seems fairly obvious (to me, anyway) that the game plan was to kidnap Mike Pence and threaten his life in order to get him to not certify the election. Whether that comes out as hard evidence like testimony or texts seems unlikely, but maybe these guys were stupid enough to put that on the record.

The next televised hearing is Monday ay 10am. Disappointed. I had assumed they'd all be in prime time.

I hope this is hammered on again and again. Whether there was a legal obligation to publicly say something there was most certainly a moral one. But all these people who knew Trump had lost the election had no issue showing up to support him lying to the American people. These are truly garbage people. I will never understand how people consider the Trumps patriotic.

Ratings estimates from Nielsen are that 20 million watched on television. This doesn't include streaming.

Tucker Carlson gets 3 million viewers a night in contrast.

The comfort inn in Ballston. It was covered (only) in ARL now.

This article also cites the 6pm curfew which I didn't learn about until about 6:05...I was at a very interesting happy hour.

As much as everyone on this site sh|ts on Bowser, the curfew and her telling counter protesters to stay the hell away were incredibly important. And without the MPD pitching in, the plan would have worked since USCP were completely outmanned.

"It’s unclear what the as-yet unidentified men were doing at the memorial that afternoon. Was their presence purely coincidental, or somehow connected to the pro-Trump rally and subsequent violence at the Capitol?"

Other words in the article: "Seemingly", "it is our understanding".

Nothing in that article is anything but speculation. Just. Wow. That's some horrid reporting.

The indictments of the Oathkeepers came later and have more detail.

Then why the horrid reporting? Please link to a new story with that detail

Someone already linked to the NYT story on this earlier in this thread. Here’s the Post: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/legal-issues/quick-reaction-force-capitol-riot/2021/04/14/2021da66-9d39-11eb-8005-bffc3a39f6d3_story.html
Also read the indictments of Stewart Rhodes and the rest of his scary band of crazies.

To be honest, after the NYT buried what was going on with Kavanaugh (and ever since they had Pulitzer issues), I let my subscription lapse. And the WaPo - my husband won’t share his login and as a housewife, I don’t have access to the funds to get my own. . Do you have other sources?

The proud boys sedition indictment shows clearly this was the plan. They quote from texts and emails they sent each other. They had a theory, which seems to be based on a bastardized version of the Eastman theory, that if certification didn’t happen on Jan. 6 then it would be invalid. So they were trying to make sure it didn’t happen on Jan. 6. See para 107: https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/press-release/file/1510791/download

Fools. What do they care who sits in the oval office? If they just gone about their nasty business they could still be playing with their big manly man guns and pretending to be manly men tough guys that would save america from the libs.

Now they are exposed as deranged, self-important idiots with some to be sitting in a prison cells instead of paying their pretend real life video game.

The fancied themselves as a praetorian guard who would be venerated for saving democracy. In reality they are just another bunch of violent thugs chasing a racist ideology.
