+1 this is me exactly

I only discuss politics with conservative friends/family.

+2. I am one of the conservative PPs that doesn't even discuss politics with fellow conservatives outside the family. You can tell me all sorts of very left ideas and I will politely nod and listen and make general rejoinders because, while unlike PP I am not worried about ostracism and other issues, I see zero reason to have a political debate since they never end up with anyone changing their mind and create nothing except unpleasantness for all participants. It helps that I genuinely don't care about a lot of social issues conservatives and liberals get super heated up about, but even for issues I do have strong opinion on, I will just politely agree and move on a different topic. You can tell me that we should abolish police entirely, have racial quotas in admissions, pay reparations, open our borders wide open, tax anyone who makes above 100K, or even run all the Republicans out the country, and I will respond with a few agreeable platitudes.

Same. It’s a million times easier that way.

Because we don't want circular discussions that go nowhere and don't change anyone's minds. If anything it causes people to dig their heels deeper.

When go down south to covid land, I don't hide away and pretend I am a fake news believer. I will wear my mask, get my vaccine, and anyone that wants to whine about that can do it do my dead loved ones tombstones since they were prematurely and unnecessarily robbed of many years in a red state stew of covid denial nonsense.

Not that PP but maybe she just doesn’t enjoy arguing? I certainly don’t so I never get into arguments on a wide variety of topics that have nothing to do with politics. I may disagree with your take on people who take pets into stores or who should host a baby shower or whether kids should be invited to weddings or whether HOAs are a good idea or whatever other nonpolitical topic but I will never argue with you about it since there is zero point except for creating unpleasantness.

I am pro vaccination but if you think a hearted argument with an anti-vaxx acquaintance will result in anything except the two of you being angry at each other, you are much more optimistic than I am.

2nd generation immigrant
Not religious

I voted for Trump 3 times. Primary and two elections. I didn’t think he was a good choice this last time but he was better than Biden/Harris.

You’re not as bright as you think you are. The bolded is an immediate giveaway that someone is conservative and/or Trump Supporter. People— especially, we black people are not stupid.

It’s hilarious that you think you’re pulling one over on us. Lol

Made it through one of those recently with one of my antivax conservative relatives super upset about a mandate and threatening to quit. Not getting any sympathy from me on that one. And in the end...lo and behold...got vaxxed and kept the job!!!!!

I’m conservative and pro-vax and wear my mask. I dress like any other UMC liberal in DC. Live in a liberal inside the beltway town. I don’t have bumper stickers or any other markers that would out me. I don’t have yard signs either.

So much of this antivax, anti mask crap is coming from conservatives. I know because I have to listen it it from relatives. Just because you pretend to have nothing to do with that does not make it so if you are supporting candidates involved with that nonsense.

There are lots of trumpers in our area that don’t say a word. I’m not one, but they are here. You don’t get 75 million votes only with people living in Mississippi.

So very true. There was never such a president that so many had to hide their support. And they hide it with very good reason. Who would want to admit to it?
