I still think 3rd parties could have been involved after he passed out. Not sure DR really wants to open that possibility, delve into staff spiking drinks or address the other safety issues raised on Yrip Advisor for years. This resort has security issues but is not alone in that.

My guess is he can get a new one at the American embassy which is why the police freaked out when he went there with his father. it’s not reasonable to keep it 1.5 more weeks if he is free to leave, otherwise it is effectively still “keeping him”.

He’s free to leave the resort, not the country. He did not get his passport back. J did and left today.
And looks like he doesn’t need to appear in person 3/28.

The prosecutor must have reasons. Keeping him does not boost tourism.

The parents said there was no evidence of anything other than an accidental drowning. DR law requires that he be charged or released. He’s not even a suspect. It’s illegal detention. US Consulate should be reigning hellfire. US looks so weak here.

I don’t know why when Ribe and his father went to the US embassy they didn’t refuse to leave. I would have stayed there and not gone back to the hotel.

What is weird is that it is not like he will disappear when in US. I am sure that US would cooperate if further questioning required and I am sure the US wish extradite him I requested given the circumstances. So this is very inappropriate and unreasonable.
