The world is actually better off that the two lunatics who died are no longer on it. People die every day, unfortunately, and so it would be more logical from a political strategy situation for people to save their outrage for a case where the people who died actually deserve anyone's sympathy. The dead career criminal pedophile and wife beater rioters in this situation assumed the risk and were not likely to have long, happy productive lives given their continued patterns of behavior anyways.

It's about the message the verdict sends and about the fact that it will encourage more dumb--and potentially fatal--acts of vigilantism. Also, if all life is precious, what does it matter how morally reprehensible the victims were?

I certainly don’t believe all life is precious. And neither does the left. Trump is a case in point.

No, the jury's job is to make a decision according to facts and law. Messaging is for political commentators and not jurors.

In terms of law and theology, the past conduct of the dead (not victims, since there was no crime) isn't decisive. But in terms of "political messaging" it is. We have one less pedophile roaming the streets now, for example. I am not going to lose sleep over that.

When the next incident happens, and I'm sure it will, I'll judge that one by its facts too. We didn't start the fire -- it's always been burning since the world's been turning and this decision wasn't going to change that one way or another anyways.

agree, and not just a little handgun, but a semiautomatic. This kid clearly had GI Joe fantasies and played too many video games.

Uh, most handguns are semiautomatic. If you don’t know anything about firearms, you may want to refrain from opining on such matters.

I’ll proudly admit knowing absolutely nothing about guns! The only thing I need to know about them is that they should all be outlawed.

Oh, and gun nutters all have tiny dicks. So I guess that’s two things I know about guns. But nothing beyond that.

What is this weird obsession people like you have with gun owners’ penises? It’s kind of creepy.

If you’re on a jury and this influences the way you vote, you are doing it wrong.
So much for the justice system.

Don't mock the pp. I'm sure her field research, verifying the relative dimensions of penises attached to gun enthusiasts, was exhausting.

No one in Washington is going to be converted

Everyone can see from Kyle Rittenhouse’s upbringing and actions : Dad and mom are substance abusers , father regularly beat his Mom , homeless as a child with his mother , HS drop out who was already evading the rules of society by using deception to purchase a weapon through a straw buyer , drive a car without a license and falsely represent himself as being an EMT that ALL of that was in play on the night he murdered 2 people

He drove to Kenosha like a moth to the flame

He solicited an excuse to be there and when questioned about why he was crossing the police line , he lied - saying he was an EMT to mask his true motive

He was just like any school shooter and the people he killed - as troubled as their lives were - were in that moment trying to disarm him

Kyle Rittenhouse will re- offend . It’s only a matter of time, situation that will trigger him to snap again

It’s probably still ongoing. She keeps trying to increase her sample size, as it were.

In rural parts of the country, millions of teenagers hunt both as a hobby and as a way to help feed their families. An AR-15 is just another long rifle, which is why there wasn’t anything illegal about Rittenhouse possessing it. It’s a common fact of life in many rural areas.

Long rifles aren’t really a significant part of gun violence. They make up about 3% of murder weapons.

Why can't they? When I was a kid in Virginia and not that far out from DC, kids brought their rifles to school so they could hunt on the way home. Kept them in the principal's office. This middle school and high school.

When? In the 19th century?

None of us can predict the future. And Rittenhouse’s family background, however unfortunate, had nothing to do with his claims of self defense.

Let’s say, for the sake of argument, he’s the biggest loser on the planet. That in no way diminishes his rights of self defense.

People saw this case through their political lenses. It’s good that the jury was able to see through that and deliver the correct verdict.

I went to high school in a pretty wealthy suburb of Detroit, which turned into some pretty rural areas in the north part of the county. Kids would go hunting before and after school. They were allowed to leave their rifles in their trucks. Nobody thought it was a big deal.

Same situation but the kid is black and he would be dead or life in prison, so yes.
