I know no one at Herndon who wants to “change the demographics to up test scores” as is often the claim when the Western HS comes up. As we can see once again, the idea brings out the crazies from outside the pyramid. We don’t need your insanity.

Having said that, there is no need to keep expanding schools. There are enough seats in FCPS. HHS did not need an expansion.

What the county really needs is rubber rooms for all the parents bouncing off the walls here.

The biggest scum on this forum are those who wait until their own schools are nicely renovated and expanded and then say no other schools should be expanded. They absolutely should expand Centreville - just not to 3000.

Sorry, I never vote for the expansions even our own school. Call me scum all you want. FCPS does not need more seats. It is a simple math problem unless you were educated in a district like FCPS.

Again, keep you and your crazy friends out of Herndon. And keep Herndon out of your looney conversations.

You can probably do addition and subtraction. It's apparently anything more complicated that leaves you in the dark.

Aww, it’s ok, Sweetie. Whatever pyramid your kids land in won’t deserve you.
I did the addition and subtraction.

362 Centreville Kids and 340 Chantilly kids are said to move to Westfield, per the Western option maps.

Also, depending on the options, 7 students on Ashvale Drive and Franklin View Court will move from Chantilly to Western, along with 351 kids in the Oak Hill area.

940 to 1005 Westfield students from Floris, McNair, and Coates move to Western depending on the options.

436 Oakton Students from Crossfield and Navy Island move to Western depending on the options.

And 370 to 408 South Lakes students from Fox Mill, Floris, and Crossfield move to Western depending on the option.

At Max, Western could take 2,207 students.

However, in my head, I subtracted the 38 students from Fox Mill Woods who would move in Options C and D and the 7 students on Ashvale and Franklin View Court, bringing Western down to 2,162, 20 students more than in Option C.

I feel like what I propose would make sense, if the building were outfitted to hold that many students.

Crossfield parent here - can we please keep the Navy Island at Navy and away from Crossfield/Carson?
Are you a troll?

No, why would you think that? I get that these are our neighbors, but I don't love the parent community at Navy. I sent one kid there for AAP one year and brought him right back to Crossfield the next year.

You realize the parents you don’t like are probably the ones whose kids will be at Carson with yours, right? The non AAP parents at Navy are pretty laid back.

I have kids at Carson and Oakton and parents are far less involved in middle school than they are in elementary and high school. It's like they completely ignore middle school since it's two years.

Do you realize that the Navy Island is a very small subset of families who attend Navy? It’s like 75 kids right now and most of them are not in AAP. The people you are so annoyed with are probably your Crossfield neighbors who choose the center not the people zoned for Navy as their base school to begin with. So you get to deal with them either way.

I was surprised to see that Crossfield had that much space, is it because of the remodel?

The size of the island has fluctuated over the years. It was a few hundred at one point. It will probably never get that big again, but there may not be enough space to move the whole island indefinitely. I would think they’d make the move in the current boundary review if they were ever going to do it.

No, it's because there hasn't been as much turnover in the boomer neighborhoods as expected. There are a slew of 90s built neighborhoods that should be turning over and bringing in new families, but the original owners are staying put. Give it 10-15 years and Crossfield will be at capacity.

And because Crossfield has Extra Capacity, you might take those kids in babe.

Are you 22 yo?
No hunty

I'm getting real June George vibes from you.

Navy and Crossfield Moms, I have heard some information that you would love to hear.

The VHSL is establishing a Western High School sports team after athletic modifications are made in the cost of $18,405,000.

Your little athletic angels will love it there.

Better yet, I’ve heard this new Western High School will have a zero tolerance policy for locker room hazing.

Also Navy and Crossfield Moms, I have heard that the school will have a rich academic program with several AP courses to satisfy your craving for academic rigor!

It might even offer some IB courses!!!

So buckle up Buttercups, because your kids will be moving there if Meren wants to move them!
